Uprated clutch...........

My Ibiza has a slipping clutch, which is getting worse, has anyone discovered an upgraded clutch yet which is available over the counter in this country?

Any information would be great!!

I am in the process of doing this now.
Tomorrow is D-Day so I hope to have good news on its actual performance then.

I did.
It is all installed now and seems to be working fine.
The clutch pedal feel is different and a bit more aggressive, but no where near as fierce as my Jetta's paddle clutch.

It is now effectively a VR6 flywheel and clutch assembly.

The parts I used were ABF flywheel, Helix 228mm Clutch cover plate (604603), and VR6 centre plate (704606), sourced from Mardis Gras Motorsport.

£155.23 Cover plate
£105.83 Centre plate
£219 New Flywheel + machining costs for lightening and balancing. (unknown at the moment)

The engine does free rev faster now, and is more responsive.

Time will tell how it copes with the extra demands I plan for it. It has no probs with the torque it sees now though.

So its about £250 for the clutch without the flywheel or do you have to do both for some reason?

What torque is the clutch rated to?

New flywheel Ben because I have gone for the largest 228mm clutch assembly, which is VR6 spec.
20VT clutch in uprated form was not available rom Helix when I spoke tp them a few weeks ago, although they did say it was on their priority list of things to do.

They quote 250lb/ft static torque max, but Jabbasport have experience of these lasting way beyond this level. It is the maximum strength pressure they do for the VR6..... I can't get a stronger one.

Helix and Mardis Gras are hand in glove..
