View Full Version : Incorrect diagnosis - Any comeback?

I haven't had one, I just wanted to see if anyone had a view (or preferably a definitive answer).

My car is playing up at the moment, it sounds like it could be the clutch or the master/slave cylinders.

Now my question is:

If a dealer diagnoses the clutch and further it turns out not to be a warranty failure and I have to pay, but I get up the road having had the fix and paid, but the problem is still there.

Am I entitled to a refund due to incorrect diagnosis? What responsibility do the dealers have when diagnosing?

i had the same problem with my old 306, the front brake would bind, they told me a faulty caliper which they replaced and i paid for (£££ alot) and i drove it up the road and it was still knackered. So i took it back, in the end they found the problem to be a fault with the servo.

But anyway i had a real wrangle with the dealer and demanded my money back for the caliper as this didnt fix the problem, and eventually after about 3 calls got my money back.

you have to be very steadfast.

Hey Camberley cars, who should I ask for?

I had booked mine in for Thursday at a local dealer for a second service too, I'm in Southampton so I'd probably need to wait for the car while the service was done and the fault looked at?

Just on top of this - I can agree that Camberley guys are good.. I always take my car there for service and any warranty work.. Not had any complaints! :)

Just spoketo a nice bloke called Kevin, described the problem and he's agreed the clutch needs doing under warranty so that's hassle free.

Going to do my service too for less than I'd been quoted at Meadens.

Got to leave the beloved car there for two days :( I hope they give me something nice to ease the pain :D

Thanks for the tip Peter & Chaz
