my leon CD changer keeps 'pausing' for between 1 and 5 seconds during replay when on the move - although no obvious bumps etc. to explain this. I suspect the laser is losing track, but would appreciate comments on whether this is a fault or is normal for the factory fit changer

cheers

That's a new one to me. I've had a beeza with a Grundig MCD36 in the boot, a new Toledo with the standard cd changer in the glove box and I'm now on my second Leon with the standard glovebox cd changer and NONE behaved as you describe.
See your friendly dealer!

Check you havn't got Traffic switched on (TP will be displayed on the screen), if you have turn it off and you will find all is well. Mince does this, It seems to pause when it thinks there is a annoucment but then continues. It does however work still - its a bit wierd I know.

I know if a cd player has anti-shock facilities then sometimes play stops if it hasn't been able to read the cd, but this would be to do with bumps in the road, and if you say this isn't the problem.

One thing I did have when I fitted mine is that on each side of the changer there are adjusters that you had to adjust to say at what angle the changer was installed. I left my adjusters at 'level' and even the slightest bump would jog the cd, however, when I changed the angle on the adjusters, it works just fine.

Is it a new install you have (or a new car)?.

thanx for the ideas guys - I will try the TP trick and see if that cures it. It is a new car with glovebox CD changer, and the glitch in play is very annoying!
