Hey Guys,

First of all ZBOYD - you are a genius!!!

I phoned my insurance today (Tesco) and asked how much extra it would be to have my car RSD chip'd, dump'd and the turbo intake tube done. As per Zboyds instructions I worded this as...

..an engine tuning package consisteing of a remap and some components giving arouund 8% more power - 15bhp (as on Oettinger website). Done by Oettinger - a well respected TUV approved tuning comapny which VW use...

Answer.....Not a problem - that'll be £51.45 sir...

So....where's a gap in my diary to get the car done http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Booked in for two weekwnds time...(22nd)...
Need to get the ECU code and number from a Dealer before that.

NOTE - if anyone is thinking about this but is unsure give Tony a ring (01295 750651).

He must have spent 30mins of his busy schedule chatting to me about all of it. Just from that I am MORE THAN HAPPY to trust them with it. In fact - I can't wait! He clinched it by saying that once done, if I take it out for a 10 mile drive and am not happy with it he'll return the car to standard and call it quits...what sort of an excellent guarantee is that!!!

Yeah they'll look after you.

I can tell you, that its highly unlikely you'll want it removing after the test drive. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

The more I here about this, the more I think I'm going to get it done to mine as well.

What's this ECU code you need and doesn't this tend to let the dealer know you've modded the car and hence lose the warranty or is it something Amethyst can get for us. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Is'nt this the ECU code on the label on the ECU itself. There are 2 digits on it which need to be matched to the correct chip to install. There are lots of variants apparently.
Nothing major to my knowledge.
You could always ask.

The cars ECU has a particular code reference, RSD need to know this code so they can order the correct ECU to match up with the car.

Some Leons have a different code to others, depending on their time of manufacture.

Anyone with a VAG 1551 computer can find out what the cars ECU code is.

When mine went for its chip, i asked my dealer to give me the code.

I understand some dealers may question the reason, in thaty case you'll have to go to RSD directly and let them plug their computer in.

But that could mean 2 trips, 1 for the ECU check then once they've ordered it back again for the new ECU.

I think if you can get your dealer to this it saves time.

Once the new ECU is fitted, the code that comes up is identical to the one they take out, so noone is any wiser unless they drive it http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

RE: ECU codes...

Any dealer with a 1551 machine can get it - Seat, Audi, VW, Skoda. You need to get the ECU number, ECU coding and the Engine Number (in your log book).

RSD can also get it but it is an hours drive for me so I'll get it done from another Dealer (maybe somewhere miles away, I'm in Canterbury this w/end :-)

Apparently it takes 5 mins and is done through a connector behind the centre consol (you can actually see it if you remove the cover at the back - in the storeage hole under the climate control, ash tray etc).

Thanks guys. I might just take a trip up to my local "friendly" Audi dealer and see if they'll do it for me.

I just tried my VAG-COm software tonight... Cool or what! Software code no problemo. Hardware reset (if you wanted ) and all 1551/2 configurable paramters. Went into my alarm settings and it recorded when my alarm went off! (I was testing it with the window down) - Big Brother is certainly recording you. Impressive what you can see and datalog. Going to try and help my mate in his polo Gti find the stutter/stall fault on part throttle take off. - Fly by wire is a ******* when it plays up http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/frown.gif
