View Full Version : New Leons already at the Dealerships
Had my LCR serviced at Eastgate (Bristol) today. When I went to pick my car up from the compound, there were three brand spanky new Leons  fresh off the transporter.
Thought the styling looked very fresh [B)] and very in proportion compared to the Altea. I know they were not the FR or Cupra styling but all the same think they will give the other manufacturers (Vauxhall, Renault etc) a run in the styling stakes  .
Still I am sure there are as many will disagree and say its not as good, all down to ones own personal opinion I guess  .

Also 3 at a dealership in Uddingston, near Glasgow but none under cover. They look very different to the current model but in a good way, stylish and aggressive at the same time. Very tempted when thenew Cupra is released.

there all ment to be covered up, if there not there being naughty boys!
we all got 3 newbies and they should be 2 tdi sports 1 silver 1 black and 1 other model, we have a pony reference with hub caps! nice!
just received an invite to private (ish) viewing at my local dealer (where i bought my FR only 3 weeks ago.... these guys never give up do they?!)
The thing i find totally bizarre about this covering up lark, for the past 6 months or more, its quite simple to know what the car looks like, its been on SCN for months, on SEAT's own press site, in a multitude of different pictures, and specs.
SEAT have been taking the car to the races etc, yet when its slapped in a showroom, its got a bag over it. Why?
Find it odd that its sat in dealerships around the country covered up, when it is already in the public domain, driving about in some cases. I saw it last month at Croft close up.
I went to see it at Lookers on Wednesday too, they currently have 3, all in the showroom now, covered, though as they had just arrived on Wednesday, they had one in the carpark, they were trying to hide it with an ill fitting car cover in the corner, it was awaiting to be cleaned up, to go in the showroom, so i was able to take a look at it.
When i was in the showroom, the salesman seemed relieved when i explained i'd already seen it, so he didn't have to disrobe it for me :p
SEAT must have the hitsqaud out. ;) A lot of nervous salesmen.
Strange to have it sat under covers though for a month, just get on with it

i cant see the point either but thats what they want? i personally think the sooner people see it the sooner people will fall in love with the looks and start buying them!
Phoned my dealer today about some trim I needed for the beezer and I asked if they had one in yet. The receptionist said no. I said that other dealerships had them in, and she then sort of mumbled.. "well, erm"....
"Ah ha! do you do have on in!" I replied!
I said I might have to pop in tomorrow and have a peek, whereupon she said they wouldn't let me.
We'll see..... ;)

I agree Z. Surely the best form of advertising is to plant it in the showroom in full view with a big sign that says "YOU WANT THIS DON'T YOU? WELL YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL THE 14th OF SEPTEMBER...!"

i had my car checked out at my local dealer on wednesday and they had a new leon in their showroom. they pulled the covers off especially for me to see (priveledged :) )
it revealed a black magic 2.0tdi sport with 150bhp [B)]
first impressions were good, very well styled and much better looking in the flesh than in pictures i've seen.
they let me inside and the seats were very comfortable and hugging. the dash was very well laid out and there was no chance of not getting a good driving position.
copule of things i didn't like were the large interior mirror which restricted the view out of the windscreen especially as the windscreen is more sloping than the previous leon.
boot seems smaller aswell and the boot gap is definately smaller.
all round visibility didn't seem as good as in the previous model but it may have been lessened by the tints. it may just be me as i have never been in a car with tints before.
on a whole though i was impressed with the efforts made by seat on this car. bring on the cupras!!!!
to be honest, it's probably only mainly the likes of us who are interested in the new Leon.
The majority of the rest of the world probably doesnt even know it exists....

ooohhh....
They may of got one for the press to try out, but dealers won't have any for a while, not many built according to the info doing the rounds, and the factory is currently on summer shutdown.

"Cupra and Cupra R models are planned"
Good research from the Top Gear guys, then. Here we go again with the questions and confusion - someone had better warm up the m0rk-inator(tm)
I popped to my local dealer (motorvague in northampton)
I think they've forgotten the rules of dealership!
No showroom car covered in a cloth, no signage. Sales person didn't even get up when I stuck my head in the door (was too busy watching TV)
maybe SEAT forgot to tell them (please say yes).
I couldn't even see any in their compound round the back..
The Seat Marshalls in Bedford is closing down, so I don't think I will find the car there.
Anyone know any good Seat dealers around Bedford?
I got my invite from motorvague today
free pizza and soft drinks.... but alas no test driving it seems.
Northampton will be your closest JK1 - but although they're not great, they're a million miles better than the Comet salesmen at MK.

I got an invite in this morning from my dealer and it said I can book a test drive before the end of the month, I must be special :)
I got my invite too this morning, I didn't really want a 'new' car and had set a max budget, but I'm very tempted. The local dealer has 3 in already.

Just recieved our New Leon 1.6 reference model this morning. looks good for the price! drove very well too!
Was at the Seat Francis dealer toady and noticed what I assume to be the new Leon under a red cover (well, anything could be hidden under there!). Then when I asked about it a young salesmen told me there were 3 others round the back. So I had a look whilst I was picking up my car.
What I cant understand is why is it under cover?? I mean everyone knows what it looks like. In my opinion a cross between an Altea and a Renault meganish something with high doors but lower than an Altea. The front seats looked quite sporty, wasn't much impressed by the exterior body -too much like a Megane for me, but thats just me:)
Apparently, the dealership is doing a launch date or whatever they call it on 11 Sept. Lets hope the drive and handling will be crisp and something to write home about!

I cannot wait no more, gonna ring SEAT Chesunt and ask tem whether I can have a sneak peak.
Had 2 Invites from my local Seat dealer inviting me to view/test drive the new Leon one was for the public launch on Sept.17th and the other a so called view before launch on 13th Sept. I'll be going along on the 13th should be less folk about as its not a weekend.
Though I'm still not sure about the looks of the new Leon though it does look good in race trim - see http://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a383/connoisseur_h/Knockhill%202005/New_Leon.jpg
taken at Knockhill last month.
The standard new Leons they had at Knockhill's Seat VIP day didn't impress me much -

the quality of the plastics used inside were poorer than the current Leon. Didn't like the centre console and it was too much like an Altea for me.(and I like the Altea for what it is). The styling and design said too much like Alfa Romeo 147 (and 156 for the hidden rear door handle) but the front was too big and didn't have the swooping front like the alfa. That said, I liked the side curves.
I'm waiting for the Cupra/FR versions, with a full bodykit, skirts etc and a decent console it wont look too bad, as I say I haven't driven one yet but hope to do so next week, lets see.............
My local dealer (Listers in Coventry) phoned me and asked me if I would be interested in a test drive last week. Am going down there this Saturday at 12pm!

I saw a red one driving out of B&Q carpark in Northampton at the weekend.
I had a double take moment as it drove past me as I thought it was far to low roofed to be an Altea - Can't give you much detail as to what spec it was other than it was red and had L E O N spaced out along the tailgate.
Wish I had seen it parked up when I was going in as I would have had a good look around it. It did look good on the road though.
im really not too keen on the looks of the standard leon either. imo the current one is way better looking
