View Full Version : Leon Aura HU Removal.?
Hi All,
Can anyone describe the shape of the keys I need to remove the standard Leon HU.?
I tried my local Seat dealer who insisted that the keys are a workshop tool only and you cannot buy them.! (Kinghams of Croydon - Parts dept as bad as the sales dept.!)
I don't want to damage anything by trying to shove bits of metal in the holes, so if anyone can draw and attach a rough sketch or better still list a Seat part number for the keys, that would be great.
Has anyone discovered any other household object that does the job.?
Thanks in advance,
Mart.

I have some, my dealer sold me a set, they are very similar to Kenwood keys to be honest, long thin metal key with like a small hook or tooth on the end.
I'll go dig them out and see if they have a part number on them.

As ZBOYD says the Kenwood keys are similar and I used my Kenwood keys to get my HU removed. I think any thin, long metal object ( that would fit through the slats on the bottom of the HU), will push the springs/catch etc in allowing the HU to be removed.
Not a help, but kinghams damaged my dash whilst replacing the stereo. Still waiting for them to fix it.

can someone give me approx dimensions of these and rough shape
Steve,
Cut up a credit card to the width of the slots to give it a go, but the plastic was a bit flimsy, so...
I then got a sharp pair of scissors and cut two strips from an old CD which did the job perfect.
Be interested to know if anybody else has used something wierd to get the HU out..!!???

Weird I'm ordered a T68 Parrot Bluetooth last week, got my Leon Delivered Yesteraday and gonna do the same tonight and fit it. Already tested it on my old car, brilliant voice quality. Only thing I would siggest is the the microphone in your T68 is active at the same time as your car kit and that's how anyone will hear the echo if they hear it at all, so I'd recomend buying a phone holder which block the microphone port on the T68.
I was also wondering how to remove the head Unit, Got a Black & Decker Jig saw, know now as well, cheers everyone. !

The blades worked a treet, there is not a clever catch just need a flat peice of metal the right size inserting. After working out how to apply pressure to both sharp blade ends I was holiding on to I pulled out the stereo, it only took about a minute and I'd never done it before. It took me two hours to fit he car kit, as I was being really carfull and trying to do as neat a job as possible.
The only problem I had was trying to squeeze the radio back in after I'd connected the ISO connectors I spliced into, and the carf kit behind the dash.
Cool.
Yep it is a bit cluttered behind there. I've replaced mine for an Alpine, and that was a struggle to get all the wiring and stuff in nice and neat, very tight for space at the back. Especially when you've got RCA leads and stuff. :)
