Powerchips...

Been looking through a POTN magazine - picked it up at the PGAC show - and they are offering Turbo chips for £294. They reckon on a 20% hike in power and a 35% hike in torque.

That'll take the Ibiza 20VT to just over 190BHP and torque to about 240.

Has anyone gone for a Powerchip?
Superchips want over £500 for the same returns. I've read mixed comments on here about the Oettinger chips too.

What sort of hike do you get on you insurance with chips? I'm just nervous doing stuff to the engine that'll invalidate the warranty/shag the engine...

Is there anything else that is a MUST if you chip the engine?

Jared, if you go with the oettinger product through RSD you do gat a warranty with it, the product is expensive and not to everyone's tastes, but my car has it and I am very happy with it, and as yet have had no difficulty with the warranty issues on the car.

I cannot comment on other makes, it would be unfair to without experience of the product.:)

Chipping has been done before, to a very heated degree i can tell you ;)

Bear in mind, cheapest isnt always best.

Theres loads to choose from who are more VAG experienced.

Theres also Superchips, ABT, MTM, and no doubt countless more ive forgotten, use the search button at the top of the forums and have a look for "chips" you'll get enough info to sink the proverbial.

As for any musts, i'd seriously think about uprating the brakes, don't think people over-dramatise about the poor standard brakes, they are REALLY bad, popular choice of pad is the Pagid Fast Road, and then a decent disc to help de-glaze the pads would be suitable.
