With all this talk about people getting a FR instead of a Cupra, what's FR actually mean? So is the FR a replacement for the Cupra R, but better because F comes after C?
I searched and didn't find anything relevant aside from people telling others to search.
Yep,
2nd post down...

From what I can gather, FR has replaced the Cupra, but the Cupra R remains...correct me if I am wrong.

FR not actiually soggy seconds, well i did'nt see any cupra or cupra R's beat me on sunday :bleh:
Its simple..
The Cupra of old will be known as the FR
The Cupra R of old will be known as the Cupra
Basically they just want the top model to be known as a cupra .. so what used to be known as a Cupra R is now just cupra, that means that the cupra needs another name - in this case FR

According to Auto express the Cupra R will be out next summer!!
I thought the real problem was Honda getting precious over the red R designation so SEAT had to change it as they'd have likely lost if it went to court.

Must be true if it's in a magazine then

that was definately a factor, that and they want to harmonise the branding across Europe (Sport, Top Sport, Cupra etc)
so to clarify
cupra r = cupra
fr is the new 'top sport/sport' if you will
without the power and trim of a cupra basically

But Jaguar use the R designation as well.
But Jaguar don't sell directly into Honda's market, like SEAT do. The Cupra R, directly competes with the Civic Type R.

FR = Cupra
Different name and styling.
For me, insurance played a big part in what car I got, and the FR TDi Ibiza is group 8, whilst he Cupra Diesel is 15.... I cant complain :D

Is that like in the US sense of friendly? It shouldn't happen, but they'll do it anyway?
