OK, I've had the car for 9 months and it's time the tune up the ICE. I was wondering if anyone has added an amp and new speakers/sub to the original Aura radio?
I really don't want to change the interior looks and I don't think the Aura sounds all that bad (just a bit muddy sounding which sound be corrected with some descent speakers). Besides the headunit I really took a fancy to is the Nakamichi MB-100 which cost big $$$$.

Should I just upgrade the speakers and add a sub + amp or should I get a 5ch amp to do the speakers and sub?

I looking for a better sounding system with a bit more bass, not a competition wining system or one my neighbors will appreciate as much as I.

Help please.... Thanx

I originally went for just speakers and sub upgrade, JL 625's in the front and JL coaxial in the rear, with a 12" free air in the shelf, running the fronts and the sub off a Phoenix Gold amp. The head unit then became the weakest link so I went for the Nakamichi cd45z and now its awesome. Total install, including having the illumination on the nak changed to red was just under 2k!!! but well worth every penny.

happy listening

A 2 step upgrade like you mention never crossed my mind, but it seems to be a very good idea. Upgrading the speakers first.

I know there are not many toledo owners hear, but has anyone installed a sub free-air in there car?
