Im booked in for the jabba remap with boost control next month and have been reading various threads. Im wondering if anyone can help with the following questions :


- can you run on full boost for long periods of time ?

- Heat builds up with the turbo from the extra boost - how can you tell if this is happening does the temp gauge rise are there other signs. (reason is why are people are looking at intercoolers).

- Does the heat build up damage the engine, turbo etc / how do you limit this ? (other than intercooler)


hope you understand the above, im trying to understand myself.

Yes, but do you have a long enough road to do so? Practically you will struggle to be on full boost 100% of the time. Modern driving ensures this !

The turbo and its manifold will glow red hot when working hard. That is one heat aspect. Also, induction temperatures will rise as the compressed gas is heated via being compressed, and the intercoolers ability is exceeded. This induction temp then looses power, as hot air is less dense than cold air, and the ECU also winds back on ignition and boost levels, reducing power. Larger or more efficient intercooler can combat this induction temp rise, but the turbo and manifold will still be glowing red hot on sustained power runs.
