Hey all,

Well, drove to Banbury today and handed over my keys to the guys at RSD. Actually spent a good hour there as they started the job. Got to say that the guys there are excellent - very friendly, knowledgable and extreemly helpful (even drove me down town to the hire-car place).

Some interesting things:
1 - When removing the engine cover there was an unused hose just lying there. God knows how it got there but a bit strange!!!
2 - At just 7k my standard dump-valve had gone. Noticeable lag on boost (started about 1.5k ago), whoosh noise and lack of sensitivity to throttle input. These standard plastic valves are just crap!

Anyway - tomorrow I shall be going to pick my car up. Oettinger 195 chip, Forge dump-valve and opened up turbo intake piping. RSD reckons about 210 to 215 bhp should be gotten http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Will let you know!

Cool, let me know what its like as I'm getting a new Ibiza from Amethyst with the RSD 210bhp conversion.

I don't suppose RSD give you a rolling road readout of your car before and after the conversion do they?

Ben,

No, RSD don't do a before/after RR printout.

Mainly because the oettinge chip is TUV approved....and it can't have that approval in Germany unless it produces as a min what it says on the tin...whihc is 195bhp.

However, I'll be organising a little Rolling Road session with RSD and other customers either before Xmas or in the new year...so if you want to tag along...just let me know.

Richiefingers...

Chip only is £799+Vat. Includes the Forge Dumper.

£995 + VAT with the intake pipe to take it past 200bhp.

With an exhaust + the above...its £1195 +
VAT.

Give them a buzz on 01295 750651 or drop them an email at roadandsport@aol.com

RR session sound cool, let me know when and where and I'll let you know if I can make it...

Do you typically get a bhp/torque graph from the rolling road?

Thanks,
Ben

Well, what can I say.....

The test-drive was mad! Just couldn't believe that the car went 'that' fast.

The drive home was even better. A mix of motorway, A and B roads. In ANY gear at ANY speed this car will now just go! You are at 100mph before you have realised what has happened....on B roads!!! The wieght of your foot on the throttle send the car screaming off. You can feel the engine just begging for more!!!!

Obviously the power is there but what is more striking is the pure driveability of the thing. The throttle is more sensitive, the pick-up faster and the power instant. You can feel that flat torque curve - the thing just doesn't give up until 6.5k....

The more I drive it the better it gets as I start to learn how it now drives. To be honest it is verging on being too fast for me. I find myself coming off the throttle far more - before it was just foot down all the time!

When I went to buy a car I obviously wanted speed. I nearly got a Honda cos it was just that little bit faster. The Honda was another 3k over the Seat. Well, ok now I have lessened that gap to 2k, but believe me this car will now wipe the floor with the Honda....not to mention BMW's, Mercs, Scoobies, Porches, etc http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif There must only be a few cars on the road that will be able to out-pul me know http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

As or RSD - what can I say! The guys there are fantastic. Very helpful and genuinely interested! I will DEFINATELY be going back!!

And, Lee, Tony didn't mention the Club - want to fill em in?

ANyway - bottom line - if you haven't done this to your Leon yet WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!! It adds practically nothing to your insurance, little from your pocket but OHMYGOD dioes it add fun to your driving!!!

Cheers - Rich

Flapper,

I'll mention it to RSD...see if they want to do a joint one.

Rich,

See, i TOLD you it was a good idea wasn't it!! heheheh

And that is the best thing....it builds up speed soo rapidly, it really is a license loser! Glad you like it.

Tony's the damn Events Co-ordinator of our club http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/mad.gif ...and the Danny's the Chairman!! I'm the future Membership Secreatary http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/cool.gif ...and if you want to join Club Oettinger....then let me know!!!

I reckon you should go back and order some Oettinger 5 Spokes in 18" format....will look the absolute mutts nuts then!!! http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Have heard that it isn't much more. Talking to others you hardly notice it. Officially it is something like 3 to 5 mpg less when gunning it. However, you get better mpg when cruising. Must even out (ish). I certainly haven't noticed any difference yet!

My MPG is pretty much unaffected to be honest, only when i floor it do you notice it.

But it did that when it was standard. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Turbo's dont drink fuel they compress air and gas.

Trouble is the right foot, opens the injectors and they drink the fuel http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif

Nice to see your enjoying your conversion. Not sure which cars you feel your faster than. Can only guess at BMW 320, Impreza Sport, std Auto Boxster http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

One thing that does lead to the car feeling very fast is the lack of lag and great low down pull. You need a trip to Santa Pod.

Rolling Road Day

Ive organised a few in my time. Two of the best ones are Powerstation, and Power Engineering. I would love to see some figures from Powerstation, on 4wd cars they seem a little low to me. Worth getting a few Audi boys along as well, so you can compare mods.

Just out of interest guys are Amethyst warranting any RSD modded Leon's/Beezer's. I cant see the average dealer agreeing to any warranty work when opening the bonnet and finding all sorts of mods i.e. dump valve and inlet pipe.

Dont get me wrong this sounds superb and I'm going to get mine booked in for next month but am just wondering where I stand if I get it done and something then goes wrong. And yes I know Oettinger stuff has a 3yr warranty... but that doesn't stop arguments about whose liable if something packs up.

as for RSD cars , we supplied the original and the 2nd was our demo anyway , RSD do the chips on our conversions and supply most the kit , and we do our own fitting etc

i know what you mean as for mods etc , SEAT can only void a warranty on a part that has been affected by any form of modification which is very little bar engine stuff etc , which the ottienger ? however its spelt, covers seperately , we do some work on other modded cars from the 98/99 era no probs ,mind you depends how NARKY ya local dealer is ????

all you got to keep in mind is the top brass in SEAT themselves have modified cars ,done by RSD themselves , EVEN AUDI UK has just sent 6 to be done .

poole,dorset , is only what 1/2 an hour in a 210 http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/biggrin.gif
