Anyone used Chipsaway before? Got a nast dent / stone chip on the side of my LCR which is doing my head in. Need to get rid of it. Have got these guys coming over on Friday to give me a quote. Just wondering what the quality of the work was like.

It all depends on the individual as its a franchise. Ive had one person say he doesn’t do chips and the other say they don’t do dents! You need to get a recommendation of your local person really

They managed to get a nasty scratch out of my bonnet without any repainting, only charged me a £10er. However, they are all franchises so me recomending the one I went to in Woking probably won't help you out much ;)
Edit: LOL, must type faster...

The website says they do stone chips, dents and alloy wheels. Be interesting to see what they say on Friday. I'm not bothered about it being perfect, just need to get the dent out of the side and make it less conspicuous, then I can mask it with a bit of touch up myself.

I tried 'fixing' some damage to mine with touch up paint and ended up with something that looked much worse. What colour is yours, cause I wouldn't bother if you have flash red.

Ebony Black mate...THE worst colour for any imperfection. I will see how much the Chipsaway Guy qotes me. If it's over £150 I'll probably just take it to a body shop and get it done properly.

It will depend on the panel. I asked them about repairing some damage to my bonnet and front wing but they wouldn't do it. They will only patch small areas that can be kept seperate from other areas so they don't have to blend the paint in. I think they mainly repair bumper scratches and possibly some parts of door panels. As I said, it will all depend on the franchise and where the damage is.

Bob,
What's the problem with flash red ? I've got a couple of medium sized stone chips on the front bumper that i was going to touch up ........ are you advising against it ?
Cheers

Red is apparently one of the hardest colours to match up. I used the 'Seat Flash Red' touch up kit from Halfords and it is significantly different from the red of the bodywork. It looks horrible :( I had much better results on my bumper using one of those red wax crayon repair kits.

Hey Bob,.. how's things??
That's why I never have another red car mate,.. I had a red R5GTT which I did'nt know had been 'front ended' (as most of them were due to sh1te brakes) until I looked at it at night under sodium street lights !! It was fecking two tone !! :p Looked great in daylight though !!
