Just really wanted to post up a few points about the new Toledo I'm currently driving. Admit I'm pretty impressed by the car but think a few minor parts have been overlooked on the design of the car.
I'm only in a low end one but it does still have dual zone climate, a pretty good stereo and has a decent driving position and good quality ride. It's also a much bigger car than I first thought it would be and has a lot of leg room as a friend who's around 6ft 5 found out when he had lots of space in the back. The boot is mahossive and has a dual layer also.
Now on the down side it needs a bigger engine so my advise is to go for the 2.0TDI if your looking to buy as it has power plus economy. My main sore point is that the steering wheel will not adjust so it impares the view of the speedo from where I sit and getting comfy means my feet are too close to the pedals and my arms are too stretched to the steering wheel - a steering adjustment would solve all these problems. Also surprised it does not have a fuel release button and you need to use the key and that the mirrors are manual - not a problem as once set you leave alone but small features may mean some extra buyers for the car.
I'll see how it goes as I think I could be driving it for the next few weeks at least.
I had the 1.9TDi Stylance model as a courtesy car a while ago mate, can't remember if you could adjust the steering wheel or not but it was a well spec'd car with plenty of space and toys shame the exterior styling isn't to my liking

I'm going to do a little more research on the car but you'll probably get a chance to have a look at it soon - like the radio in it though now I've figured out how to use it.

Are they? I did try to fiddle but it felt like the plastic was about to break  , I'll have a better look later on for it but I'm pretty impressed so far - not sure on the costs of them though.

Most of you lot seem very quiet in the new Toledo section??? Guess only a few have them and not many have found this site yet then?
So more observations after having driven it for almost 2 weeks now - it's well outside the service interval now by about a thousand miles or so and will be even more so by next week after a trip to Scotland and back.
Well I found the steering adjust - although not very clear on where it is in the first place. Other annoying things I've found are that it does not have heated mirrors - so I was left looking through a watery haze this morning on the way to work.
The fuel filler is also starting to annoy me as you have to use the key to unlock it, the space means you always end up banging your hand or fiddling about with the key for a short while! Once the cap is off the nozzle never seems to sit right in the hole so you have to keep a firm grip or else the nozzle and fuel would be all over the floor.
Apart from that the seat are comfortable, stereo is pretty good once figured out and you have a good driving position as well. Just a shame I've a gutless one as getting past a Ka is a challange to me now.........
Our Toledo, a Stylance 1.9TDi has been a very unfortunate tale of woe.
A new gearbox, breakdown due to the fan jamming, new clutch, new flywheel, sunvisor fell off, rear seat jammed, and aircon failed! all in less than 6000 miles. Now it's left in the company car park as a pool car !
The local daeler has never collected or delivered the car, nor washed it despite the appalling quality. We did get a meal voucher from Seat however, but they obviously can't improve their dealer service.
I'm surprised folks think the boot is large - it won't take a Hoover or a set of golf clubs and in capacity is about the same as a Mondeo - and all that for the most dreadful styled rear end (sorry - but even our close friends aren't able to lie!). And why isn't it a 7 seater, a la Zafira etc? Seems a wasted opportunity.
Oh - and the sales brochure states it to be only Euro 3 compliant - we sussed it was Euro 4 but how many company users are paying Mr Brown more than they should! Also Seat must see the UK market as non critical as the brochure and handbook show all the pics and diags in LHD !
On the plus side - well, the gearchange is now decent (surprising for a VW!), handling and steering are good (although body roll is high), instrument panel is a refreshing change in style (except you can't see the speedo up to 30mph), and the front end styling at least is attractive.

..cannot see speedo to 30mph..
Dealers are not too good mate as it seems you've discovered, maybe put your comments in the dealer section as it may make people wary of using this particular dealer in the future.
I never really used the boot as such but if you cannot fit some clubs in the maybe it is a bit lacking, the vectra I'm in now has quite a fair amount of space but does not seem quite as deep I admit.
Agree back end is a bit odd, but in it's defense it does have a good set-up on the road and handles fairly well.
That speedo layout is really crap though..

I had a 1.9TDi Stylance for a pool car and people at work ridiculed me about its arse end all morning. It was OK to drive, but was rolly as said. Its the sort of car you get out of and you don't really feel stirred. Perfectly adequate but unexcpetional (unless you get the relaibility issues mentioned above). As my old man says "rather have a 3rd class ride than a 1st class walk".
