Well yes I just got back from Munich tonight and the so called theft proof antenna on the toledo was gone (again and again I might add). That's third time since november.
Have been looking to get one of those short combo antennas like the newer Mercs and A6 have, but haven't been able to find any with AM/FM incorporated. Does anyone know where I can pick one of these up?

Aaagh. How cute!
Looks sweet & good for antitheft etc.
Dunno how much they cost but my standard unit filled up with water fritzing the electronics in the base & Seat wanted £70+ (inc VAT, ex fitting) for the replacement! :(

There have been various discussions on the vwvortex forums (forums.vwvortex.com) about stubby antennas for the VW Golf - Honda S2000 and Audi TT are one I seen mentioned so it may be worth trying dealers for these models.

There have been comments about the stubby antennas having poor reception due to their short length - remember that those designed for mobile phone use are designed to operate at much higher frequencies (900Mhz for GSM) than the normal FM broadcast band so reception is likely to be affected.

I have seen replacement standard sized antennas for the Golf MK IV for around £15 (German & Swedish comes to mind - got their catalogue somewhere) and the Golf antenna looks exactly the same as the one on my Leon.

The FM reception doesn't bug me much. My 146km ride home does run through some fringe GSM areas (dropped calls are a constant). A combi antenna with 3db of gain for GSM would be nice. Just sick and tired of having to replace mast every few months.
