Hi to you all, i was hoping someone could advice me on my situation, i purchased a 2002 Seat Toledo v5 2.3, 4 months ago, the car came with a 6 month warranty, 2 weeks ago as i was driving home i noticed a light appear on the dash it was the Diagnosis*/Excess of pollution light, i took it back to the dealer who had the car over night, when i went to collect it the next day the light had gone out and all seemed to be fine, two days later as i was driving to my horror this light came on again along with another two lights, the ESP light and also the EPC light, i couldn't believe it so i called the dealer back who said that there was nothing he could do until next week. Can anyone offer some advice about what may be causing these problems, i only have 2 months warranty left and i have a feeling the dealer will try and tell me its nothing to worry about, he was not very helpful when i took my car back the 1st time with just the one light on and i just get the feeling that my car wont be dealt with properly and i will drive away only to have the same problem again.

 Welcome to SCN

Whereabouts are you, you need to get the faults codes read by someone with access to vag-com. Is the garage a Seat Stealer?

Is this a non-Seat dealer that you bought the car from?

If it is I'd suggest you either find someone on here with VAGcom who is local to you to read the error codes for you or failing that goto your local Seat dealer and get them to read the codes. If you play the damsel in distress I'd expect you could get them to read the codes as a freebie seeing as it's only a 2minute job. This will give you some facts to go back to the supplying dealer with and give you an idea of what can be expected to be required to fix the problem.

does it run rough when the lights are on?

could well be coilpack, maf, lamda probe

very common failures

your 'dealer' may well have replaced one of the coil packs only for the other(s) to go

fault code read will help you identify the problem

Well, it did make a weird noise which i did not notice before this light came on, when i put my foot down on the accelerator it didn't sound right, a friend of mine had a quick look and said it could be something to do with the Catalytic Converter. Since getting it back the weird noise has gone but like i said the lights back on along with the other 2 i mentioned.

i once had an Audi A2 with similar problems it turned out to be a faulty alternator not charging opmtimally.
when this happens the ecu shuts down power to the ABS and TCS
hence theese lights will show up.
Do the vag.com thing

Thanks again for your help, well the situation now is basically i feel the dealer is giving me the run around, i still have not been able to take my car back to him, his excuse is they are to busy at the moment. Well i no i probably shouldn't but i'm still driving it around only trying to do short trips, but a few days ago i noticed that the ESP light and the EPC light had gone out but the Diagnosis*/Excess of pollution light still remains on. Oh well watch this space i will keep you updated to what happens next.

Halfords sell fault-code readers for about £15. Try popping in there and buying one and then post the codes it gives you on here (or just search on the internet for them). That should give you a good idea as to what is wrong.
