View Full Version : how u stop 17's rubbing???
Got a set of 17 inch tsw avus R's with 215,40,zr17's fitted and they rub like mad on the rear?? any idea how u stop it or any good places that can roll my arches? anyone got any bits that will help for sale????
eeeek! 215 on rear
ideally you want a 205, who sold you 215 :gun:
er, i dunno mate, have a feel round the wheel, is it the outer edge that rubs? I think it may be cheaper to put 205's on rather than gettin your arches rolled
Good luck
yep thats right.. get rid and get 205/40
i've got 17"s and a 40 mm drop and it doesn't even scrub with three in the back...:D
I have 16's with 40mm drop and they rub with peeps in the back over really bad bumpy road:eek:

Interesting,
I had 205/40's pirelli p7000s on 7 x 17 Rimstock Motorsports which used to rub on the inner forn wheel arch on full lock.
Went to 225/35's Pirelli p7000s on the same wheels (they do fit honest) and had less rubbing - the rolling radius is smaller, although the tyres are wider.
I've now got 225 / 35 F1's which seem OK but difficult to tell as the front end is Buggered  unstopable force, immovable object etc.
Both sizes seen very close to the limit.
Given that the 225/35's are much dearer i'd stick with 205/40s.
Unusually F1 205/40 are v dear compared to Pirellis etc, it was only about a tenner more for the 225/35s whereas the pirellis there is a big difference between the sizes.
Go figure it:dunno:

Got a little pic.
Hard to see where the shadow ends and the tyres start though.
It does have tyres - honest
its defintly the outer edge, there are huge grooves in them and they are kinking the flange of the arch!! What are the best lowering springs to use and will 205's fit my rims ok??

It that also for 1.8 20V (3 people - 40mm drop, 17' and no rubing)
Thanks
