I have an 04 Arosa 1.0s, and the brakes are making grinding noises. Can't afford to get a dealer to do it (hence why I bought an Arosa instead of a Leon)

I used to change brake pads on my dads old metro years ago, and wondering if I can do the same with my Arosa. Anyone have any idea what type of brakes it has, and is the process still generally the same standard one for pads.

Thanks

Mark

Sounds like you need new pads matey ;) and possibly new discs!

The procedure is most probably the same as you're used to. Haynes will be a good way of checking... not sure if there's a manual for the Arosa, but the Ibiza one would be good enough I reckon.

As for what size brakes are on it..... I'll have a quick look for ya ;)

Have a look on this page mate:

You need to find out what engine code your Arosa is, then you can work out which brakes it has got ;)

Looks like you've got the 239x10mm solid discs on the 1.0 Arosa ;)

Thanks andy, just what I needed to hear. Are discs fairly easy to replace as well. Apparently Haynes don't do a manual for the arosa.

How did you find all that out so quickly (engine code etc) I can't find anywhere with the specs on my car on the net (I'm at work so can't look in the book)

Will check the pads tonight, if they are low, willl try and get some tomorrow and do it.

Thanks again

Discs are easy.... once you've managed to either unscrew or drill out the discs retaining screw... ;)

How did I find out the info.... I'm used to finding out stuff for my cars!!! ;)

I reckon you won't go far wrong by buying an Ibiza Haynes manual. I'm pretty sure that the front ends are identical with regards engine, suspension, brakes etc

Glad to help mate, I know how difficult it can be to find out info sometimes!!

If you're going to be buying discs and pads, have a look at the Euro Car Parts section on the forum , and give Stu @ ECP in lEeds a call.... he does 10% discount for SCN members ;)
