Been a while since I posted here. Hello all.

Just noticed on the Seat UK website that the 2.0TDi is now on the price list (despite the local Seat dealer telling me last week that it wouldn't be out 'until the middle of next year' - fat lot of good they were). Sorely tempted by that engine though.

I spoke to someone at AMD tuning about Revo'ing a 2.0TDi, and he said that it's a very good motor - much better (smoother and more powerful) than the PD115 (though that seems pretty good to me with my Tuning Box on it) or even the Audi V6 2.5TDi. Tuning Box (i.e. plug-in box rather than a remap) are showing power/torque curves for the 2.0 140 (that's what they've put in the Alhambra) - power up to about 175bhp, torque up to 478.8Nm (over 350lb.ft.!). My 115 PD with 'Box is quoted as 150bhp/275lbft and that feels like it could pull out tree stumps, so the new motor must be awesome.

The 2.0TDi can also be fitted with the DSG gearbox (though it isn't listed as an option for the Bammer:cry: ). Now THAT would be something... :D

DSG box can only cope with about 350Nm torque though, so no tuning/remapping

BTW, has anyone got any pictures of the leather/alcantara interiors that are available as an option in the current Alhambra? Can't find anything on the web, or even a Bammer for sale with it to go and have a nosey

DSG's are reportedly in the bugatie thin veryon? or what ever it is so with a 1000 bhp i should think it could handle a 2.0 tdi alhambra?
all alhambra's at the moment are factory build so you wont be seeing any of them for at least 3 months!

But that isn't the DSG box fitted to the 2.0TDi. If you do a quick websearch, the torque handling limits of the DSG box are causing people a few headaches (e.g. Audi A4 and 3.2 V6 TT owners, though I'm not sure if the latter uses the same 'box). The bloke at AMD (and they know their stuff) also said that the torque handling limitations of the DSG box could be problematic.

Firstly...I doubt someone from AMD was tallkking about Revo, AMD do their own stuf and are not Revo dealers?

Secondly...we have remapped plenty of 2.0tdi dsg cars and have still not seen an issue with one single gearbox. I think if you play safe and map it sensibly and smoothy you will see no issues with the gearbox at all. However I know some tuners like the aggressive bottom end punch and I feel this type of tuning may give issues with the stock DSG box. No doubt we will soon see as more of these are being chipped now.

Ooops! Meant to write 'remap' rather than Revo - I'd just been looking at Revo's offerings when I posted the first message.

As regards the DSG, I meant (and to some extent you have confirmed this) that the it will limit the torque tuning potential of the 2.0TDi. The low down, instant response grunt of these engines (and the PD115/130/150 before it) is their main attraction to me - especially in a big lump like an Alhambra. Above 3000rpm, these engines get pretty coarse to my mind (but I should think the 2.0 is better because of the new head - I'd certainly like to try one). Most of my time is spent in the 1,500 - 2,500 range. I want instant, refined response in that range, and not to have to thrash it at 3-4,000rpm to see the best of the engine.

If I do trade in for a 2.0, I'd like to see some return for my cash over and above my PD115 with the Tuning Box (which is a great combination anyway) and I'd hate to think that I'm limiting this return by adding the constraints required by a DSG.

All of this is hypothetical anyway, as you can't get a DSG box on a Bammer (atm).

if you check out the specs for the forthcoming altea fr with the 170bhp 2.0 tdi

the dsg box is still rated at 350Nm , i would of thought vw would of brought out a "strong" dsg box  140bhp is rated at 320nm why is 170bhp only 30nm more ?

just had word back from Seat UK that there are no current plans to offer the Alhambra 2.0TDi with a DSG 'box. Shame.
