Stereo Gone Dead

Hi all,

I posted a previous thread about mounting a cd changer in my mk3 ibiza, since then i've managed to fit one and it worked fine for a week or so. Earlier today though i had a cd from the changer on and all was good (not particularly loud) then the speakers made a slight hiss and went dead. I can't get any sound back from the tape or radio player either so i'm pretty sure the cd changer seems to be ok as according to the front display panel the cd's are playing, but there's nothing back through the speakers. Basically i wouldn't have a clue where to start troubleshooting this kinda thing, so anyone got any suggestions?

What CD changer was it?

The changer was an Alpine CHM-630 unit. Since it first occured the stereo did come back to life for a bit, but then died again conincedently as i hit a bump. My initial reaction was that the amp/speakers must have blown. But being an intimitent problem i'm guessing it's more likely to be a connection somewhere along the line?
