From what I've read the speakers in the beezer Cupra are pap, so after finding out the speaker sizes, I went off hunting for some replacements.
Which makes do you peeps recommend? any people replaced the standard ones in their Curpa?
I've been looking at :-
JBL
Infinity
Pioneer
Kenwood
I had some Infinity 6 x 9's in my old old car and they were amazing, so I am tempted?
Thanks in advance
Dan
I had infinity kappa in my golf and they were good.
I have now fitted pioneer ACS6910 6x9 on the back and they sound really clear and bassy if you crank it up. Not fitted anything up front yet but will probably go for something with less bass like infinity again.

the best sounding components i have heard in a while are the focal components, my mate has them in his 206.
he works for dimma, who are focal suppliers. if you give them a bell ask for 'Nug'. he will be able to give u a good price.
I've got JL Audio VR components in mine and they are incredible. Would definately recommend!!

Do you have JL VR in the front, what have you got in the back?
Cheers

I've got a set of 6" VR components in the front. 6.5" will fit perfectly, its just i was offered the 6" at a stupid price.
You'll need a set of adapters no matter what speakers you buy to allow you to fit them to the original mounting holes.
In the boot i've got a JL 12W3 sub mounted in an Auto Acoustics stealth box.
I'm using the standard head unit and have used two high>low level converters from maystar to allow he to get the signal down the car and into my amps. I'm using one amp for the components and the other for the sub.
Alot of people have stayed away from these types of converters due to interference and whining once the engine is started. But i must say the converters i'm using are pretty good. There is a very slight whining noise when the engine is started, but it is only slight. Once you turn the volume up or start moving it is impossible to hear it. As most people, i didn't want to start hacking my dash apart the minute i got the car, so i thought for £20 i'll give em a try.
As for the rear speakers, i have disconnected them.
1. I don't sit in the back...
2. they would only distort and lower the quality and balance of the sound.
Any other questions then let me know....

P.S. Put aside 2 weekends if your gonna do the install yourself...

At the moment, its a toss about between JBL and JL, I reckon I might go for JBL, what are these speakers convertors then, wont the new ones fit then?
Thans for your help mate

Your new speakers unfortunetly won't fit straight in. The standard ibiza speakers have an adapter built into them which is not separable. The adapter spaces the speakers away from the door and windows by about an 1"-1.5".
So the easiest way when replacing the standard speakers is to pick up a set of these adapters from your local ICE dealer. It then makes it very easy to install your new speakers.
Autoleads and Maystar definately make adapters so anywhere that sells their products should be able to help you.
One word of warning though, the clearance behind the front speakers is very tight. The mounting depth you have is very shallow once the window is fully down. I've got 6" speakers installed, i reckon if i'd gone for the 6.5" then they might not have fitted so easily. Ask other peeps on the forums what 6.5" speakers they have installed to be sure you don't buy a set of speakers which don't fit!!
