You can uprate the spring anytime you want aslong as you choose the right one..

cheers mate, I've recently had a remap so probably need one, getting retarding at 80-100mph, could this be caused by the standard DV spring not being resistant enough? I've ordered the yellow one!

Yup the yellow one is what you want.. Thats the one i brought a while back.. Im not to sure about your problem tho, it could well be, your soon know once you got your yellow spring in.. They should send you some grease aswell, so i would give it a little service before you put it all back together..

why do peeps want to get a stronger, make a DV harder to open?
My 007p on std spring ran fine on 25psi boost and well over 300bhp...
On static test it would only slightly hiss >27psi, which was just audioble, so certainly not going to loose boost via it..
dont see the need myself.
Interesting Bill.
I've alway ran and recommended a yellow spring due to information I've read.
I'll be getting the new Eliminator diaphragm valve when its released so will go back to the green spring ( I assume this is what you are calling standard?).

yea green is std..
I'll have to check mine when I get the car back and see whatr pressure it still holds. Its getting a bit old.. Got some yella's around so will play and see what pressures blow by on statc test. (curious)
I upped mine from the supplied green spring to the blue spring. I had a hesitation when changing at high revs, and the stronger spring removed/reduced it.
Try pushing the piston in the standard DV off it's seat, the 007p is much easier even with the red spring in it.
My guess is the valve with no spring in it will hold a lot of pressure (if the valve is the "right" way round).
It's hard to argue with Bill on this though, if the green spring is good for him...

think its maybe time for a new yellow spring for mine, last couple of days when letting off boost in 4th,5th etc it get a double vent noise, almost like a stutter of the valve opening, closing, opening and closing again very quickly.

I'm clutching at straws really wanna try and eliminate this retarding i'm getting at high speed, thought it may be due to boost leaking throught the DV cos of the ecu controlled N249 valve so thought if i get a stifer spring it may reduce its effects??? Any advice would be gratefully appreciated!

i might e wrong but retard happens when there is either crap petrol or hot air (comes part and parcel with a remap ntil you get a fmic) ive got stage 2 and yesterday was getting virtually no retard at all on vagcom except the usual cyl4 issue where it doesnt seem to get its fair share of air compared to the rest of them.
your dv needs servicing every 10-15k doing the leakback test will tell you if youre leaking much, i doubt its causing it though. i had a boost leak and the car was still putting out 220 lb/f, got that sorted and now is running over 240lb/f

been using nothing but optimax since the remap, I tried changing back to the N75F but I'm still getting the retarding, its fine if you plant your foot down but ease off slightly and she pulls back and jitters for some reason, putting out 280lb/ft. How do you do this leak back test?

basically put your finger over the smallest outlet and press the insert up towards it, when it reaches full travel let go if it, if the spring returns the insert to its starting point theres no vacuum, ie leak, if it drops around 5 mm its fine, when you let go of the small outlet and the insert pops down any, it should be fine. if theres a problem,. contact forge motorsport on here and they will replace the insert and send you a maint kit.
Put the yellow spring in and she's now running nice and smooth!

cheers
I swapped from a green spring to a blue one this weekend and found no differance what so ever, which i thought was a bit strange.
In fact i will probably change back as i was getting a slight hesitation at about 3k in third and fourth.
Havent had chance to log it yet so i will wait until that.
From the Forge website:
Valve Spring color coding
Green - 5-15 PSI
Yellow - 15-23 PSI
Blue - 23-30 PSI
Red - 30 + PSI
The above figures are estimates only and should only be considered as a guideline. Please call to discuss your requirements
Upgrading mine to a yellow spring made a big difference.

Look in my signature mate! Yes the difference is very noticable when the turbo spools up!
