Hi Guys,

Just brought my Ibiza Cupra and LOVE it! Ive been reading the forums and checking the website for the last year and after reading everyones comments on how wicked the car is I could no longer resist.

However, I am a complete beginner when it comes to ICE! I have just brought a Sony CDX-T69 six disc changer (as I work for Sony and get a discount) and wanted to plug it straight in, as the Seat dealer told me I could. But, on getting my disc changer I have found that Sony use a circular connecter and the one in the back of my Cupra is a 10 pin rectangular plug. I have been down to my local car audio place, Compact Car Audio in Aylesbury and they have told me the following:

They sell converter units that will do the conversion, but they need to know if the cars radio is an Aura, Beta or Scala? As you all will know the only downside about the car is the built in radio, which doesn't display anything apart from Seat! They have the kits that will do each one but cannot order until they know for sure. So I have spoken to my local Seat dealer and they tell me its a Grundig! Went back to CCA's and they said that Grundig is only upto 1999 and my cars is a 2000......ARGHH!!!

So does anyone know if you can fit a Sony disc changer and if so HOW! Would really appreciate any advice as I have no tapes and the radios doing my head in!

I have just got my Ibiza Cupra too (kin love it) and it didnt have a CD autochanger, so I ordered one when I brought the car. I haggled with my dealer and got it for cost price with free fitting, should cost £400 from Seat I got it from them for £260 that's from Bournemouth Seat.

BTW its a Grundig

Good Luck mate

Thanks for the advice Mark/Dan. Went down to Halfords and yep they sell the converter made by Connects-2 for £50. Found out that Aura, Beta & Scarla are all models of Grunding stereos, so in a way both Seat and CCA's were right all along. The listings in Halfords showed the Ibiza as having a Beta model, for which they sell converters for Sony bits. Should be in stock Friday and I will let you know if it all works ok (sure it will).

Thanks again and no doubt I will be back shortly checking out what to upgrade next. As for Sony ICE gear, how do you guys rate it? As I get a discount I would obviously prefer to buy it!

Mark.

I had Sony head units in both my last cars, no problems, and sound really good.

I havent really used any of their speakers/amp so can not comment but I havent heard anything bad about them so that is a good sign I
suppose

Cheers
