Ordered some Redline MT-90 gearbox oil from C&R Enterprises in Nottingham on Wednesday last week, and was assured that it would be there on Saturday morning.... made the hour round trip there only to find out that it hadn't arrived yet.... Not happy :(

Had planned on spending all day Saturday tinkering on the car, replacing gearbox oil, replacing rocker cover gasket etc.

Hopefully it'll be here somepoint this week.

Main reason for getting it, is that on CGti they have suggested that it might 'help' with my crunching 2nd gear..... For £25 for 2 litres, it's worth a try! If it works, it'll mean that I won't have to spend £120+ getting a replacment 'box fitted.

Anyone else heard good things about Redlint MTL/MT-90 ?!? ;)

Yes on the MTL and want to put some MT90 in mine before the nend of the year. I can't remember how much the box takes though.

Apparently an 02a 'box takes 2-litres ;)

It's sold in the UK, in US Quarts (~950ml) so two bottles will equal about 1.9L. Accounting for the fact that you'll never get ALL of the old stuff out, 2 bottles will be enough ;)

Loads of places are selling it cheaper now, because there is now an official UK distributor for it, so it's trade price is alot cheaper ;) £12 + VAT from C&R

Just been told that the distributor has had problems getting it sent out to C&R, but they assure me that they will send it out by the end of today, and I shoud be able to pick it up tomorrow..... we shall see !!!

but C&R are only round the corner so I don't have to pay P&P !!! ;)

Turbobits works out at about £32 inc P&P, where as C&R is about £27 :D

Collected the oil yesterday and changed it over this evening.

30min job once all in ;)

17mm hex socket to undo the drain and refill plugs on the 02a box, and an extendable wrench to undo them with !! ;)

Length of hose pipe and a funnel to refill (thanks to m0rk for that tip!!!;) )

2 bottles (950ml) of MT-90 and job done.

Initial impression is that it gives a smoother gear change. Haven't tried changing from 1st to 2nd above 3k rpm yet, but will give a day or so and will report back !!
