OK

Wilwoods worked great @ Blyton, however they now "squeal like a pig" had a quick look and theres no scoring on the discs, havent took the pads out yet, could they be well glazed? theres still meat on the pads too.

any ideas?

Hi

I have heard people using anti-squeal compound between the piston and disk back but I'm not 100% sure what this is exactly - perhaps Rally design know ?

Cheers

you'll usually find that if your running hard pads then because your not generating enough heat during normal road driving conditions, you'll get brake noise. I bet if you take your car out for a hard drive you'll find they'll be ok?? one of the down sides to racey brakes. (that's what the guys at porsche told a girlie friend when she moaned about her boxster s brakes being noisey)

Yeah, fair point Justins and i would agree with you, but ive got these PolyD pads which, i think are supposed to be fine straight away from cold. Dunno i'll have a dig around

Do you mean copper grease Rob? I've heard of plenty of people using copper grease between piston and rear of brake pad.

ive got a standard leon cupra 20vt..after a hard drive 100mph + and corners to brake for they squeal for the rest of the day. next mornings rust on the discs then stops the problem.

As G has said, copperslip/grease is commonly used on the pads backplate as an anti squeel agent.

On your 4-pots, do the pads have a spring tensioner at all to hold the pad in (in addition to the pins)

The Brembos do and they run as quiet as standard brakes. ;)

My rear brakes sometimes squeal when not using them. Very high pitch and noisy, a quick lift of the handbrake usually stops it. Any ideas as we're on the subject?

So its copperslip, I finish this day a wiser man. The Wilwoods do not come with a spring tensioner as std in the package but one is available as an option that fits between the pad backs - basically it runs along the pad retaining splitpin.

Copper greased the back of the pads, will look into this spring tensioner.

Had a look at them last night and around the edges of the contact area of the pad the material is crumbling very slightly, this could be causing it, but i dont know how to shift it, Wire brush?
