When I changed the rocker cover gasket on my 2.0 16v, I noticed that the inside of the inlet manifold was covered in oil. Going to prevent this from reoccuring by using a catch tank on the crankcase breather pipe.

Now, what's the best way to clean the inside of the manifold ?!? Steam Clean ?!?

Is there any advantages to be gained by doing any other work to it whilst I've got it off the engine ?!?

Cheers,

Andy

gunk, fairy or electronic foam cleaner does a good job too. painting bits also is easier while they are off.

Cheers Brendy ;)

Just wondered if it was possible to do the equivalent to 'gas-flowing' inside it ?!?

nah not worth it, i saw a 400 brake evo lump getting uprated, ie huge turbo etc and the actual plenum was quite small, not much bigger than the 16v if even!

Cool, I'll just give it a damn good clean out then !!! ;)

Throttle body's now nice and shiney to!! :)

Thinking about painting the inlet manifold and rocker cover in a nice matt black Hammerite ;) with red detailing on the lettering ;)

stick it in the dishwasher, makes a great job of cylinder heads as well, just don't tell her, do it late at night, and don't forget to take it out, otherwise she greats you with it when you get home from work

Dishwasher is also really good for anyone buying second hand samcos or just cleaning them up after a few years.
