Hi,

I have a Seat Ibiza Sport (buildyear 2000) with a radio integrated in the dashboard.

I'd like to install an amplifier with a subwoofer and a couple of extra speakers, but I would like to know if it is possible to connect my new amplifier to the radio?

Thanks in advance,
Dave

Yeah mate you could buy a highlevel to low level covertor from halford I think which would convert your signal that is ment to go to your speakers into a RCA style conetion which you just join via a phono cable to your amp or.....

Buy an Amp which has a high level input option on it , but either way they dont sound as sweet as having line level all the way however I have a plan.....

Using a Sony Changer wired to operate through the standard Radio unit which has cd conrols via a convertor box by connect2 which I all ready have .... run the line level out at the auto changer up to a dash mounted pre-amp which will then control the volume between the cd and the amps. It means tht the standard radio will still contorl the cd player but the pre amp controls the volume. Clever Ehh !!

Have a look at the posts towards the bottom of this thread: http://www.seatcars.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=6946

From my understanding, it's basically, a nice compact little amp that can be hidden behind the dashboard and I would assume can accept a speaker lever input.

Just to say it is possible to do, but its not the easist, the reason for this is because once to get behind the radio and the big box(as i call it)all the slots look that same and I am unsure which one you would connet the remote wire to, but I do know how to do the rest, i.e. connecting the speaker wires to the amp, connecting it to the power and how to feed it from the front of the car to the back, but all of this knowledge is useless with out knowning how to connect the remote wire from the amp up.

I had a shop fit my amp and sub to my standard head unit and for the sake of £38 it was well worth by all accounts. It took the guy all afternoon and he told me when I got there that he wasn't looking forward to it! Still he did it ok and it sounds great. I think it was £17 for some kind of adapter and the rest of the £38 to fit.

If you want to install it your self go to this web site and it will tell you how to do it,

I am currelty doing the same thing at present, but if you can find some one to fit it for you I guess this might be better.

Jimmyboy where did you get yours done?

I got it done at Sextons in Southampton. I'm not sure if it's a chain but there is a couple round here.

Not sure if using Hi/Lo converter will sound any better than using the Hi level input?????
If the headunit had low level output this would definitely sound better, since the low level output have a much cleaner signal. Besides the ICE is only as good as its weakest link.
