Has anyone worked out how to make the stereo's in a new cupra sound any better? i test drove one on sat and was appalled! love the car tho!

I am running a large system in my golf at the mo.....2xrockford fosgate 10"s powered by a rockford fosgate punch 100.2 infinity 6x9's alpine componants in the front all powered by a caliber 4 channel amp etc soback to a small setup is going to be difficult! i spoke to my local stereo dealer and they said it will never sound any good! they said if the stereo sounds bad amping it up will only amplify shit sound
sound pretty convincing? can i fit my stereo equipment into the ibiza?

We can do you a rear speaker conversion for £150 to 6*9

Then an 4*80w amp upgrade for £150.00

Leave the 6X9's alone....you want pioneer 20cm in the back and pioneer 17cm in the front with a sony 4*55 watts....I have heard the full front and back conversion and have the front conversion in mine....sounds amazing...even flapper agrees!

Your in basingstoke right? i'm in southampton during weekends. Easy for me to get on the M3...

I've just had one of these fitted by the lovely Amethyst chaps. I've only got the standard fronts with JBL 6x4's in the standard position in the back. Makes a big difference though....time to save for the rest of the speakers. http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

For anyone who's thinking of having it done, I was looking at the demo yesterday, the guys put on a nice connector to the speaker wires like in the Pug306. Just unclip to remove the shelf, nice and tidy...

Yep, I've got the 200w 6x9s in my Ibiza running without an extra Amp... I was amazed how loud they go without distorting!

Definately get the 6x9s.... don't bother with an extra amp in mu opinion. The standard amp can generate enough power to make it uncomfortably loud!

Yes, the standard speakers are a disgrace.
A few questions then:
Graham, how much for the front speakers to be upgraded as well?
What make do you use for the 6x9s (and fronts if thats necessary) and are these the same ones you have Ben?
And is the amp really necessary? (how many watts is the Seat head unit)

I didn't bother with ICE much in the 16V as it was so noisy, but in the refined 20V T its much more worthwhile.

Its a helluva way to go for some speakers but I don't want to let the local ICE muppets near my car, they look like they've just got out of a young offenders institute.

Dormouse, OK how much for this little lot and can Amethyst do it or is there anyone else you can recommend in the south?
I remember hearing some Pioneer 20cm (8 inch) rounds and only the very best 6x9s would come close. No need for a subwoofer with those babies http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/smile.gif

Does that involve speaker to rca adaption loom or does it plug in to the back of the stereo?

Pete,

17cm Pioneer Metalcones in front with a 4*55 sony amp...no messing with loom...your only problem might be getting the doors off. Pioneers 160 squid amp 100 or so. At that point you have a very impressive set-up allready...in the front...And if i'm not mistaken, thats where the steering wheel is...i.e where you sit and listen to the music...am I getting though you lot????...

Next get a stealth shelf 99% identical for 100 odd quid from autoacoustics.com (co.uk?) add your pioneer TSE-2095's (20cm)119.00 to the pre-cut holes. No scewing with different cables with the 55W rear channels...

Stealth shelf is my next U/G when cash allows...need forge valve first. But I have heard it and it is amazing!

So it's 160+120+100+100 = 480....ok it's not chap but it is and does sound clean, crisp, precise, professional and clear....

Suggest Anglesea car radio in Shirley, Southampton. Speak to pete if possible.

I was less worried about volume, more in terms of quality. It's made my JBL 6x4's sound 10 times better. They thrive on more power.
I agree that the 6x9's sound loud but they'd have much more bass with the amp. Plus it's configurable so you can send the lower and mid stuff to the back for them to deal with and keep the fronts for the high notes as far as I'm aware.

Nothing wrong with the 6x9's with the stock stereo they just love the extra juice if you can provide it.

Cheers

its got the new style DIN wiring connections on it , pull out ya old ones and plug in the new , only real wiring required is an earth near to the amp itself to help with the power , THATS IT ! !
