Anybody know if its easy to take the chip out of the car with using any specialist equipment ?
My Cordy goes at the end of the week, and its it is possible I would like the chip removed, making the car standard before it goes?

Need a firm answer by Wed at latest.

Cheers

Have you looked in the ECU?

Paul Baker from RPM just pushed one into an IC socket at Alconbury.

just pull it squarely out

does it just go into a pre installed socket, or is it made up at the time of chipping?? Reason im asking is cause im at the front of the queue for this one!! :D and wanna know how easily it is to install.

is the chip swapped for the old one or is it installed along side stnd one?as you'd need to put the old one back in surely?why not just swap ecu units if they are the same?save any de-soldering post them off to each other:cheers:

I would not risk messin about with the ECU if I had no clue about it. It all sound very easy swapping chip for a standard chip but I doubt if it is as easy as that. OVV, as Ive told you, you dont want to be on your way south to collect your new car and your cordy breaks down due to you tampering with it!!! For the sake of £150 or whatever you could get for it, it's not worth the hassel!

The ibiza cupra 2vt is soldered in. When u get it chipped they will unsolder it and put a housing so u can take out and put in chips as need..
