View Full Version : Pirelli P6's
Needing new tyres and managed to source some P6's (H rating)for £53 each including fitting. Prices seems good but is the tyre any good. Have dunlops on just now and they are grim. Failing the P6's any suggestions would be appreciated.
Leon 2001 Tdi110 SE
The P6 are a new tread design, so I'm not sure if anyone has used them yet. I'm also not sure what size your using but most of the guy's ride and recommend the Goodyear Eagle F1s. I just ordered a set yesterday.
I guess it depends on your driving style too. As far as pirellis I've used quite a few models (old P6, old P7, P5000, P6000). There OK, but I wouldn't really recommend them as an outstanding tire.
Be careful with 'H'rated tyres they may invalidate your insurance as factory fit is 'V' rating ( even though you will be doing well to get 130+mph out of the TDi:) )
I find that V rated tyres are only a couple of quid extra usually.
Go for the Goodyears lot better in the wet than the P6000.
Imported 110TDIs come with H-rated tyres as std.
My 110 beeza came with V rated rubber, Most of the 110 Leons come with dunlop SP-2000 or P-6000s, only the 1.6l come with H rated stuff. Obviously I'm speaking of Portugal so I can't vouch for what U get over in the UK.
certain.
My dads' car came with h-rated Contis, and mine with h-rated dunlops.
Didn't pay much attention to models since I was upping to 16"s immediately (with v-rated....but h's would have suited me fine).
h-rated is to 132mph ~ more than enough for a TDI110....in std tune at least. In fact, even a modified Leon that will run to the limiter in 5th will still hit a brick wall at 132mph.
