I have just had a 4 channel kicker amp running off the standard head unit fitted by my local ICE shop by-passing the head unit amp using a kit to convert to RCA outputs, I am also running some pioneer 6x9's and some pioneer components up front in original casing in addition to this I had a panasonic 6 disc multichanger this is now very load but with very good sound qaulity which is what I was mainly after the only prob I have encountered is some interferance since I had the components installed this im told is because the new speakers are a lot more sensitive, I am having to have some magic box put in don't know what it is called it's not getting put in until next week but my local shop are doing it for free saving me £120 but so they should after £900 but is very good if you want to speak to the shop they are Piolet in Coventry and just mention my name and that my car is a Ibiza cupra. 02476678889

You describe interferrance, i take it this is the slight sound of the engine coming over the speakers??
If so its not your speakers its the Lo Level to RCA convertor thats causing it via the amp, not much you can do about it to be honest.
You can get this even with normal RCA cabling, the method i have used is to run the RCA's as far away as possible from the main power of the amp.
In my installs, i have run the power down the centre of the car, and used a very thick 30A core cable, well insulated, and then run the RCA down either the left hand side or right hand side of the car.
This cuts out completly or drastically reduces the interferrance, the trouble with Lo Level to RCA convertors is they are flawed to start with, your transferring a lo level level signal from your Headunit and trying to step it up to a higher level.
I tried this a few years back and in the end i scrapped it, it drove me mad, the sound quality was dire and the whirring noise was awful.
I know its a struggle with the Ibiza, and i wish manufactrers would stop making these poor stereo systems that cant be upgraded.
I know its for security reasons that they do it, but at the end of the day if someones to lazy to take a face off their stereo, then deserve to have it nicked. :(
Im luckier with the Leon as the stereo is easily replaced, so i can use proper RCA Sub outputs and Amp lines. :)
Its a problem i hope to take up with SQ Plus in Manchester, they are one of the UK most respected ICE Installers doing demo cars for many of the main ICE manufacturers, if they can't come up with a good solution i dont think anyone could, i'll ask them next time im there.

I was talking about this today with the guy who does my stereo work for me.
He reckons that if you use a good quality suppressor and amplifier it will drastically reduce the interferance.
I'm goin to use my current amp with sp. level inputs and mount the JBL 6x4 in my new 20VT Ibiza to try it and see what happens, that way i should get a decent enough idea without spending any money on new gear.
Which disc changer did you buy?
How did you fit it?

Thanks for all the advice, the multichanger fitted was the Panasonic DP9061 (fitted using a wiring kit to convert cheaper than option to have multichanger when I brought the car local ICE company did install)the complete set-up was fine untill comps went in the company are installing a suppressor for the front comps next week will let you know if it cures the prob.

I have had a rather nice install done in my Cupra.
Had the face of an Alpine Remote Commander unit mounted under the stock hifi. The box is then hiiden away and connected by a cable.
CD tech 6" components straight in the door (tweeters on the kick panel)
6 disc changer in the boot.
False floor in boot with 4400g Clarion amp and 10" diamond audio sub.
Dynamat throughout.
Absolutely stonking and no pissing about with the stock unit/heater controls.
Rear speakers still connected to the stock unit for tapes for the kiddies !
I'll post some pics soon but moving house at the mo.

Russ,
Any joy on those pics? I'd be interested to see. Did you get the install done in Gloucester, whereabouts?
Oh and is your P1 the one with the numberplate that spells out Scoobie?
Cheers
