Exhaust bore vs Power?

Just adjusting my exhaust system today (remus centre section and sebring back box) and noticed the bore of the pipe on the back box drops from about 55mm at the connector to about 45mm in the section entering the box. The system sounds great, but can't help thinking i'm losing power at this point in the system - has anyone else noticed their systems doing the same? or is it that sebring do a one box fits all engine sizes (noticed on the packing it also fits 1.9d!) .

I take it that if I did fit a box with wider bore piping the noise would rise as well as the power? do you reckon its worth doing?

to be honest you would get very small bhp 1 maybe 2? gains for a lot of work and just attract more attention from plod.

I had a smaller bore on mine for a bit, it was more 'low down' but less top endy if that makes sense.

struggled to pull much past 6k, whack the bigger bore (55mm) back on & revved to 7k happily.
