Good afternoon all,

I have a problem at the moment. I own a GTI 8V and as some of you may know the side skirts and part of the front and rear bumper does not come colour coded as the 16v does.

I looked at the car the other day briefly and could not find a way of taking off the sideskirts and extensions for the front and rear bumper as i need to send these off to get them sprayed (need to send them off as a friend of a friend is doing it cheap and on the side...wink wink nudge nudge if you know what i mean!!) The DTM front spoiler will not be a problem as that is not attached yet. I really don't want to have to take off the whole bumper and drive around for a week or so just cos the litte bumper extension needs spraying!

Does anyone know how to detach these so i can get it done. Any help is much obliged.

For the front - ask some theiving scumbag @rsehole with a N*va/S*xo/C*rsa, they seem quite good at removing these items :gun: Or you could just buy a new one. £17+VAT last time I bought one.

Skirts? Ask RobT to take it for a few laps round Blyton ;)

Rear - no suggestions, sorry.

Seriously, the front splitter is (correctly) removed on post '97 cars by unsrewing the self-tappers at the front of the wheelarch - you'll need to turn the wheels to get a screwdriver to these. Then there's a bunch of clips behind. If you can get your fingers under these, they pull down quite easily but you'll need to ease the splitter off so they don't lock back in position. Start at one side and work your way along.

To remove the skirts, I believe there are screws at each end ( you might have to take off the rear wheel) and then slide the whole thing either forward or backwards (I don't recall which it is).

I still don't have any suggestions for the rear one though...

I'd be interested to know the outcome of your spray job, if you get it done. Take a b4 and after pic :)
