Hi guys, I've had this guide sittin on the hard drive for quite a long time now.
It was in french and I finally got the time and will to translate it in english. I did this cos I know many mk3 owners
might be interested in this mod.
I take no credit nor responsibility for this guide, I just translated it and know as much as you about it.
Please don't ask me any technical question about it cos I could just reply with what I think about the question since I didn't do this mod to my car.
I know this guide leaves some dark spots but at least it gives you a good idea about the most difficult steps.

I'd like to point out too that nor english nor french is my first language so any correction is welcome.
If anyone wants to try this mod, any add-on [better explanations and/or pics] is well accepted too.
In the end it would be good to see this into the main page guides section if everybody thinks it's good enough.

Well, I think I've said pretty much everything about the subject. Take a read and tell me what you think.

Here (http://www.seatcupra.net/files/Mk3HUChange.pdf)'s the link [right click + save as]

Have fun,
Carlo

I tried zippin'/rarrin' it and it stays almost there [230-220Mb] so no point in compressing,,, shouldn't be much an issue with broadband, but obviously a future version needs to be lighter,,,

Brendy, I copied the images via copy/paste from the other .doc file which was 25Mb 'only',,,
I tried copy/pasting them into photoshop to make em light jpegs but when I paste them they get all screwed up, the colors go like 16 color mode [4 bit] gifs,,, too strange considering I had a play with the color modes and nothing,,, I tried many different color modes and profiles but nothing really,,, ended up leaving like it is now. I guess that converting it into a pdf will help since IIRC the pdf format has a built in compression method,,,

the images probably cant be compressed any more than their current format allows.
your best bet is to create a html version and see how that works, but as you say, probably a lot of pics and work.

Nice work on the translation. Thanks.

I got it down to 23.1meg by the way, just right click the image, format picture then compress... Job done.

hehe really??

the word version on my desktop is quite old,,, will have to check if it has that function,,,
as soon as I got time I'll try and compress everything the way you said.

Hope my english is good enough on that guide,,, as said, any correction is welcome.

Good work chaps, just about to embark on removing my HU. This is the 2nd phase of finding and eliminating a really annoying rattle in my dash. (phase 1 being ripping out all the glovebox etc)

No doubt this guide will help :)
