I have had my car chipped by APR. :D and am now wondering if a forge dump valve would be a worthwhile addition. Does anyone have experience of these mods combined? If so, which is the best dump valve - the DV006? Is it a straight swap with stock valve?
Any other suggestions for the next logical stage of mild tuning also please:cheers:

Erm.... mixed feelings.

I got a Forge DV006, definitely better gearchanges and a lot smoother ride in the town. Regarding to 1/4 mile & 0-60 runs, the plastic bosch one is a better! I lost 0.4 secs on my last 1/8 mile run with the Forge!!!

Bosch one is weak and slower than a Forge DV in my own experience. Between gear lag is less with Forge.

Going back to my Bosch i've had a notable improvement in the cars response and hesitations seem very much lessened now than when running my DV006.

Should really try a 007P, but loathed to spend another £70 plus to put on another dodgy engineered DV to be honest with no guarantee that it'll make any improvement over the stock valve.

Not ideal, but then again doesn't seem to be a better alternative at the moment.

I put my stock bosch valve back in for the very first time the car is chipped. I have to admit that the Forge keeps the increased boost a bit better, but i still have mixed feelings. Here are some thoughts of mine about this;

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=7727

Then, i just taken my forge dv006 apart and i noticed some uneven wear inside. When vacuum lifts the piston inside up, it will move a bit sideways too, not just up (see attachment)! The spring inside is strong enough to close the valve even with this effect, but not impressive at all!!!

I've got the 007P and it's great. Quick responce and no problems. It's marketed as a fast road DV so may be more suited to what we want.

When I am asked which Forge to go for, I advise DV007P personally. More compact, available in black or polished and a lesser distance for the piston (ie less distance for it to wander too! )
Got a DV006 on mine as it came with it, and it did have a prob with the piston several months ago, but I reworked it and its been fine ever since.

Bill,

how did you rework yours? I'd like to rework mine too.

Thanks for the comments guys - sound like it's not a guaranteed improvement, so I think I'll stick with stock DV for now and reconsider if and when it packs in. By the way - do they last well?

My DV006 has stiction on the piston and o-rings such that it stuttered its way down the bore and sometimes did'nt seat square which bruised the piston to seat face.

I polished the piston OD so it had no remaining machining grooves and lapped the piston to its seat after refacing the housing slightly. Relubricated it and its been 100% fine since.

As I said I would go for DV007P now personally.

Thanks for the info. BTW, i also was considering polishing the piston. Plus, i will try tightening the spring placing a big washer underneath.

Yea.. I preloaded the piston too. No gains apart from slamming the piston down against the seat even harder.... more bruising.

Well,

after driving the car around (both urban & highway) with the stock bosch one i am totally fed up again. Lots of hesitations when flooring the car. Once or twice it did not even close, fuel flew into engine lots of detonation & stuff, i aint happy with the bosch one either. Somebody gimme a working DV!

No, im running the standard setup now. No restriction, no tricks (except for the 1 bar chip), brandnew stock DV with ~500 miles. Will tune up my forge and put it back soon.

Does changing the DV affect your insurance-did you advise your insurance company- I know it doesnt really affect BHP but you know what they,re like. Also, what is the general reaction from insurance companies to chipping the car-just wondering?

changing from a recirculating bosch to a reciculating Forge is like putting in a K7N pannel filter. no insuarnce hane as it is a direct replacement part
