Do you think it would be posiable to fit JL8IB4 in the door?
What MD is there in the leon door?
would i be able to fit the JL sub in the door without remaking a hole interior door panel?
The Jl has
diameter of 8.25"
cutout hole diameter of 7"
Mounting depth of 3.875"
overall depth of 4.3125"
magnet size of 4"
Any idea as i love the idea of upfront fullrange bass as i would run them as a sub.
Also GENESIS do you have any pics of your kickpanels?
no mate its too big im afraid you would have to do a lot of reco0nstructive surgery to make this fit you would have to hack away at the inner door skin and make the hole slightly bigger for a start
dont see why you would want to put that large a sub in the front door anyway unless you are going to run with no sub in the boot
running free air in a door lends itself to more mid bass rather than true low frequency
its been tried before ......... without much success im afraid!!!!!!
yes i have lots of phots of the car mate unfortunatly i dont know how to post them but send me an e mail and ill e mail em directly too you
Actually this JL works very well as a true sub in the front doors (if you can get it to fit) IB. I was thinking of using them upfront as my only subbass after talking to Scott Buwalda (the USA IASCA expert champion with the SX200) about them as he use to use them in his doors as his only source of subbass from 100Hz down for SQ. He says its the best SQ Subbass hes had upfront so far, he used them before he switched to the 12" MB Quart sub in the centre of the dash.
I think a system with TRUE upfront bass sounds better after hearing a few cars with subs in the front so was hopeing i could get these to fit.
Can you remember what the Mounting depth of the door is before hitting the window?
I would not mind altering the inner metal panel but i would prefer not to have to remake the outer cardboard panel.
Do you think this is posiable or not?

Have you thought about setting your own members page at sound domain up its free and you can post pics and an explanation of your system for free there as I don't seam to be the only person interested in your system.
the place to join is here http://www.sounddomain.com/member_pages?SID=
Just click the join here section on the left. You can set your page up without any name deatils or address on it to keep people from tracing you if you want to. Its very easy to set up the pages here and you can use as many pages and photos as you like.
Genesis email me your pics, and i'll feature the car on the website, im also curious for obvious reasons :)
Just list the kit, specs etc, and i'll do a page dedicated to it.

There's 7 to 7.5cm of clearance inside the doors and upto 4cm clearance between door and door card. You won't get an 8" in there without modding the door card though because of it's location...

the jl speaker as a sub will work well in the front doors ONLY IF IN SEALED ENCLOSURE AS IN THE IASCA CHAMP,S CAR not free air. too difficult to get the speaker to play very low frequencys at any real volume as i mentioned earlier this would lend the speaker more to
midd bass rather than true sub bass
