After a lukewarm reception from my local SEAT/Alfa/Hyundai/Fiat/Trabant! dealer, I hit the web and found seatcupra.net. I immediately noticed Amethyst where mentioned a great deal and gave them a whirl.

From first contact, I knew I was onto a good-un'. They managed to sort out a test drive with just 2 days notice (on a b/h weekend!!). On arrival I was met by Neil Hargreaves, a very "unsalesman-like" salesman (and I mean that in the kindest terms :) ) who allowed us to take the cupra for the afternoon, unlike the 10 minute supervised spin allowed from my local.

Immediatley placed an order on our return, but being my normal bloody awqward self asked for the blue seats, not standard spec for the blue beezer cupra. Knowing this might be difficult Neil said he would do his best.

Obviously, he has worked wonders, 'cos I just received a call to say he's found one :D :D and thats after just 4 days after ordering !!

I'm chuffed to bits with Amethyst so far and cirtainly don't begrudge the 120mile round trip to see them.

Give them a go, you can't go far wrong. ;)

I did!
Like you.. I went, I test drove I wanted one.... took me several months to conjour up the finances though :(
My First test drive was way back in Feb and then again a Leon cupra, then again the 210 converted ibiza - SOLD. 210 beezer it had to be.
Collect tomorrow :)
Neil is a good salesman. Cupras sell themselves to people like us. Have a good long drive just makes his job easier. :)

VW were the opposite :( Could'nt be too arsed to arrange a test drive, were very limiting on duration and was nannied during the 15 min circuit they took you round. On spending £15K on a new car, I want more than 15mins of bloody test drive. VW take note!

The audi garage at basingstoke has to be the worst car sales place i have ever been to!,

I wanted to test drive an A3 t-sport, and although they had lots on the forecourt, they said the only one i could drive was the 1.8T, four wheel drive, and i had to wait a week befor i could test it, and then the sales person came with me, let me drive it for 10 minutes and kept telling me not to put my foot down too much as he had to pay for the petrol!!,

So i spent 10 minutes driving it like it had a 1.0 litre engine in it and when we got back to the showroom, he seems quite surprised when i showed no interest in buying an Audi!!, and to top it all they offered me £1500 less than my car was worth in a trade p/x because they had no interest in a Citroen XM !!,

Whereas the seat dealer i bought my car from in london phoned me up because i has asked for some literature on the leon, but i wasnt really interested in buying one at the time because i wanted a golf or an A3,
And he just said to me, 'come down for a free test drive, you can take it out on your own, and i guarantee when you come back you will want one' !!, I thought this was a bit cheeky of him saying this but after my test drive he was right!!, i placed my order for one the following morning !!

VW/Audi appear to be very arrogant...
My local VW dealership lost out on a "potential" sale on a few counts.
Nannie driving for 10mins with the sales person..
Indifferent attitude on sales
Northfield VW reputation on after sales/service etc truely sucks...

Amethyst on the other hand were/are superb. Laid back, casual, but professional. "Have a drive, enjoy yourself" and the car sells itself.

So far so good.

Popped in their today. Ive bought a fair few cars in my time, and would have to say that the reception their from the mechanic that showed me where to park and the guys in the showroom was great.

Nice to see a state of the art showroom with all the mod cons you'd get in any Audi or BMW dealership. Great coffee as well.

Have to say i was a little sceptical seeing a recommended dealer on the web site. After visiting them I can see why.
