Hi all

Bought my Leon TDI SE 110 on 4 July 2002 and it has developed what I can only only describe as a ticking noise from the engine. It's louder when cold and subsides when the engine has warmed up but never goes away.

I can hear it outside the car on idle and inside the car when pressing the accelerator. On the overerrun or when driving down hill with no accelerator, in gear, the noise seems to disappear.

Is this normal? Is it a stuck hydraulic tappit? Will it get worse or disappear?

Mileage so far is 850 miles.

Cheers

;)

It should get better, especially as you only have 850 miles. My TDi has 47,000 now, and still does it for 5-10 seconds when standing over night, especially in winter.
Its a common noise in non Common Rail & PD Direct injection diesels.

ive just got this on my tdi150 mk1 leon 30000 miles. I'm sure ive never noticed it before and it seems to have conincided with me installing a power cable for my amp. I have disconnected the batter to connect the new cable. WHen i reconnected and started teh car i noticed this noise. Pretty sure its never been there before.

Is this definately not a problem ?
