Does sound like its on its way out then, might go for a while yet, had a clutch slip for 1000miles before. Its same with anything really if you give it enough hammer then it will wear out faster. Where you get your prices from?

local vw garage not the dealer but a specialist. im guessin that a young lad had the car before me and thats why its gone, the ripspeed door sills gave it away i surpose but as i want one i was willing to take the risk. do you think them prices are good they are the cheapest ive found so far.

yeha i think the labour cost is very reasonable if its a specialist because its a big job engine out and gearbox off kinda thing. Local guy round here who isnt a specialist charged my mate £200 just for a 1.1 fiesta ur totals only 30quid more and its a complex car

cool didnt realise it was that simple on an arosa
soz for deletion (ste20vt above) was signed in as you!! doh guess i should leave his computer alone!!!
anyway Clutches.....
my Tolly had a new one in the Garage yesterday...non dealer...
had the symptoms above, drives like a dream, no jerking on pull away, no slipping under hard acceleration. I have noticed, however, the bite point hasnt really changed:confused:
anyway, worth having done even if i do grimace at the 312 quid ARRRR:cry:
140 for clutch a heap fro fitting and then VAT.......MMMMmmm not cheap!
erm, you're worried about it slipping in 1st.... should slip in higher gears with more load rather than rear it's head in 1st
but you're right - v easy job, there's room to do it on the 1.4's
Good price too really

I bought my last clutch for £15 from ebay..... did most of it myself what didnt you do yourself ???
I had diffeculty lifting the box back on, locating it right & pushing the bolts in - so needed a 2nd pair of hands
the rest was a walk in the park
