View Full Version : Fuel additives
Hi there,
What's your general view regarding fuel additives added to the fuel tank every 5000 miles or so(the injector and cylinder cleaner)?
Any good?Has anyone added one to the Beezer 20vt, and did you feel any improvement aside from the maintaince aspect?
Noam.

Hi Primecart,
Is that the liqui m something??
I bought BG at Auto Depot and was told it was the best for it.Considered the LM but higer intervals between the 2 plus the positive recommendation BG got made me go for BG.It's good for 7500-10,000 km.
BTW,I've done 8500 km on mine - Is it O.K to start with the additive now??
Thanks
Noam.

Yes. I mean the Liqui Moly Gas additive. You insert 1 can every 2000 Km from the first gas tank!
I have had 20 years experience with it and it works wonders! Mainly it is a solvent and cleaning additive. When you will take the spark plugs out after 30,000 Km they'll look like almost new! I have never had a problem with my injectors and the fuel in Israel is very low grade compared to the euro one!
Price in Israel for a can of LM is 3.5 pounds, so it is worth it!
See the LM site for more info-

Noam?
Are you from Israel?
If you are, than you should know that the Technion tested most of the gas additives in Israel for AUTO Magazine some years ago and found out that only the LM one is doing it's job! I would not put into my engine anything that is not worth the money! I have never heard of the BG s**t they sold you in AUTO DEPOT and I strongly sugest you take it back. They are selling the LM additive for 35-37 Shekels and you can get it in Paz gas stations for 40-45 shekels! I buy it for 25 in Ytzahk Sade st.(corner of shonzino st.) in Tel Aviv!

Hi Primekart,
yes, I do live in Israel , in Ra'anana.good to hear from you re. the LM stuff - Perhaps I'll return it and use LM after all?
will it be a major issue if I start using it now(8500km.)for the first time?
Could have a whole lotta resdue and nasty stuff sit there?
Then again she is 6 months old :) :)
BTW did you feel any increase in perfomance i.e car breathing better?
What about fuel consumption?
Thanks in advance
Noam.

Hi Noam, shanah tovah
No, no problem starting to put the LM additive now. There should be no residue now in your engine, it's too new!
It is not that you feel better performance, it's more of a guard or precaution on the long run. You'll never have injector problems, spark plugs are cleaner. you'll see that the engine oil is cleaner after 15,000 Km!
I am using 98/99 octane and doing on my day to day run to work and back about 10.5 Km on the Lt. According to the trip computer, on the highway, doing 120-130 KmH, with the a/c on and a passenger - i'm doing 16 Km per Lt!!! Very good consumption! Truble is that the fuel tank is so small!

Hi,
I know SEAT recommends 95 octane for the cupra, but I am taking that as a MINIMUM recommendation, so I am using 98/99 octane. To the best of my knowledge the engine is suposed to run on leanner mixture at lower teperatures with that octane no.
As to the fuel additive, it is never late to start. Just fill up the tank and put 2 cans fpr the first time for a through cleanup of the fuel system and afterwards 1 can every 2000 Km. (that's for the LM brand!)
