I was giving the leon a good scrub today and happened to have a can of foam clenser (the sort you clean your computer with, can be bought for around a fiver in any pc shop) and turtle wax alloy cleaner, spray the foam on first then alloy cleaner, the brake dust comes off around 2 mins later with very little scrubbing with normal car cloth, saved me a good 15 mins over normal arm ache.

i use foam cleaner (clenser, potatoes potatos) for washing my hands after working in the engine bay, its a great degreaser.
(btw did someone whisper silicone tip?)

Haven't they brought this out in like a ready made already?! Cause i've got some stuff i bought which is a foam wheel cleaner sounds just like that stuff and its amazing, you pretty much just rinse the wheel after its done its stuff and your finished.

hang on a mo, i was just saying that two products (one , not even remotely connected to cars) when mixed together stank to high heaven, but also cleaned brake dust, tar, baked on markings etc inside a minute of soaking and use.
if you can buy it, go nuts, ive two bottles on the alloy cleaner and a couple cans of foam cleaner, its nost me nothing in experimenting!
btw, ive just invented a bit of flat tin foil and decided it was so shiney i could mount it on the windscreen and i can now see the cars behind me!
