Having problems with my Toledo 2.0 sport.
When engine hot car splutters, plumes of black smoke from exhaust. First Dealer replaced rotor arm, having not found a fault on the diagnostics test. Second dealer has changed temperature sensor to no avail, again stating no fault being reported. He now suggests that it could be the Lamda sensor,ECU or the cat itself. Costs appear to be astronomical, well beyond my budget. However I notice the coolant temperature gauge is hardly registering, wheras the oil temp is at 82 deg. The question is does the ECU use the coolant temperature to gauge how rich the fuel mix should be. No workshop manual (Haynes) is available for this car. I'm at my wits end, and the bottom of my pocket. I was sent a link to this forum by a user on "Parkers.co.uk" who suggested the MAF sensor may be at fault. Any advice would be appreciated.
