Hi All

Just been looking at seat enthusiasts site

http://****************************

and on the main site page there's a list of parts, inc. part numbers, needed for Brembo 4 pot conversion - total cost £836.63 (includes VAT and pads)

Thought your kit was significantly cheaper Bill ?

Cheers

Rob

:D
It is.
:D

£428 inc VAT from me plus carriage (heavy) - All parts req'd to convert 20VT Ibiza to R spec brakes. - Forum price. £450 on Badger5 website.

Prices on that site are SEAT retail and full list of bits. Some are silly priced and those I source elsewhere :)

Good kit tho. Luv mine a lot :)

Bill would like to know, if this kit will fit the Leon, or if you can also source the kit to convert a Leon to Leon R spec, this is a mod i'd like to do.

As i need something now behind my rims to show off ;)

LOL

Coincidentally I was at Amethyst this afternoon and their first 4 Leon-R's had arrived. I had a look with my friend in parts and eyeballed the Leon R's Brembos. Significantly larger than the Ibiza ones.

There is no release on info or prices for the R yet though so I could'nt get any prices.

We will have to wait a little longer to see whats released and particularly at what price.

I really like the look of the Leon R tho :)
Hmmmm.

Ovni Yellow R looked the mutts nutts......... Needs lowering of course :p

DOH!... there I go again!

Looking forward to having a go in one shortly :)

Bill

as bill said that's the price for all the genuine SEAT parts.
i listed everthing OE that is required to do the conversion.
the only parts you really need are the calipers, carriers and discs.
everything else you can source locally as bill and myself have already done :)

the leon calipers , do they look the same or are the calipers actually bigger too, know the discs are 330mm but are the carriers just bigger?

Bigger (longer) than Ibiza ones.
Look like Porsche type fitment with bleed nipple at the top on the outer face.

Quite different to the Beezer ones.

Must stop on its nose!

Bill, do you think you could get the new bigger Leon R Brembos to fit on an Ibiza? :)

How good are the supplies of the Brembo brake kit now? I know you had to wait ages to get your first set, so any idea how long I would have to wait if I order a kit from you? Also, I can't afford new wheels just yet, so do you think the Brembos would fit under the standard wheels if I used spacers?

Cheers

Brembo deliveries are poor. Disks in, brackets in, no calipers.
I have shifted a couple of sets so far to those who have placed actual orders.
I wish I could give firm delivery dates but this would be daft given its out of my control.

The Leon setup will not fit the Beezer. Its too large and 5 stud also.

You would need more than spacers Ben,,,,, not even 20mm perside was enough... and thats Carlos fan Dango wide for the front. My 7x16 ET38 Speedlines cleared (by 0.75mm) so wheel spoke design is a factor.

Bill is there a Brembo brake conversion for the 2.0 8v Ibiza as i will be upgrading the head and cams in the very near future and i will definitely need some extra stopping power!!

Depending on the hubs you have now, the choice (not really choice) is the Ibiza Cupra-R conversion.

Needs the 7x16 ET35/38 wheels tho.

2ltr 8v are 256mm now? I think? >> Glyn?

Bolt on otherwise like for 16v and 20VT

Indeed - 2.0 8v uses 256x20 vented discs. While the calipers are similar to mk2 2.0 16v & mk3 1.8 20vt, i gather the caliper body is a slightly different casting. I have heard of an Oxford-based "tuner" offering caliper spacers/brackets to allow cars intended to run with 256x20 discs (2.0 8v, 1.8 16v, TDi, etc...) to run 280 discs a la 2.0 16v & 1.8 20vT using the original calipers. This could be worth a look as a cost effective upgrade route.

BTW, while out playing with the Race Technology AP22 last night, my passenger commented on how good the brakes on my 2.0 8v were - lightly modified using 256x20 EBC TurboGroove discs, Pagid Fast Road pads. Fluid is 7 month old DoT4 with about 10k miles, 1 track day at Bruntingthorpe, 2 track days at Blyton, 1 at Curborough and a Solo to its' credit - not exactly fresh! For reference, the guy passing comment divides his time between a 400bhp/tonne Westfield and a Rover 216, and I can assure you that the brakes in the Westie are proper stoppers...

if you take the discs & callipers off an 8v you should be able to fit Brembo's in place of them - or just pick up the cast off 280mm ones :D

If the hubs are the same, which they sound like they are, then the Brembo stuff will bolt on.
G - you should sample my Brembos.. they should register a good "G" factor me thinks.

I've got the AP22.... fun for a day or so but thats all. You could of had mine if you had asked. :)

It will prbably be more fun at a track day as there is nowhere round here that I can think of where I can do 0-60 runs etc.

Nah Ben i was sent one for review by Race Technology, and didn't really get the time to do anything with it, as Bill is into this kind of thing, and gets to go on tracks a lot more often than i do, after he asked i thought he could do a lot better review of it, with his experience, thats why i sent it to him.

Once its done with it will be a compo prize up for grabs.
