hi i have ordered a tdi sport could anyone tell me why the service is every 10000 miles but the same engine in a golf is 10000 or upto 18000 cutomers choice can i choose variable rather than fixed in the seat?

I think (but not 100%) you can ask the dealer to put your car on variable servicing when it arrives, they will change the oil for fully synthetic oil.
No doubt someone will put me right if I'm wrong.

For what an oil and filter change costs, it is not worth it. As with my last Leon Cupra, I shall allow mine to do the 10000 miles, and take it for a service, then every 5000 it shall get an oil and filter change from then on.

I allow it to go the first 10000 to give the engine time to "bed in"

I know modern engines and oil are better than they used to be, but remember the old Ford OHC engines. and all the cam problems, I did 100000 in a Sierra 2.0 GLS changed the oil every 6000, and never had a cam noise, or cam problem.

thanks guys but i probably wont have the car for more than 20000-25000 miles as i only keep a car for 18months my mini's computer decides when a service is neccesary i thought thats what the vw engines did is tht not the case?

Only on certain models, engine types/numbers:) not all of them. Mind you, I don't think you save in most cases, the "long life" oil VAG use is about £10 a litre, and most cars take about 4.5-5.5 litres these days.

SEAT vehicles are all set to fixed (10K) intervals in the UK. The official line is that they cannot be converted to variable servicing but no-one has given me a convincing reason why not.
