Has anyone fitted an ecotek CB-26P to their car? If so, does it make any difference? neil.

no, they're crap

at first you kid yourself that you've not wasted £45 on a act under your bonnet, so you buy a £20 silencer that really fecks it up

and yes I have now locked mine up & get better mpg than when it was set up as per the instructions.

Yup only good for making noises like an Asmatic Donkey and bleeding valubable vacuum pressure away from your brake servo.

Been there done it, not worth it :p

Me too, no real improvements in performance or economy that I noticed apart from an irritating, asthmatic, whiney, noise!

May improve exhaust gases if you`re near an MOT failure on the CO2 etc but I never bothered getting mine checked b4 I threw the bloody thing into the back of the garage.

I`ve been lead to believe these thing do work on some cars depending on the ECU etc. Best improvements are on basic engines running mechanical fuel injection or carbs that cant be mapped for fuelling like modern Seats.

I wouldn`t bother - spend your money on something else.

Put one on mine with the silencer, its quiet but not sure if its set up right. At first i opened it until it was making a noise and kept turning until it stopped. Engine seemed like it was gonna stall an engine light came on. I re read the instructions and think you turn it until it starts making a noise then turn back till it stops (Not alot of turns). Seems ok now looks nice in the engine bay with piper x silencer but didn't increase performance. As for mpg it only works when turbo is not running (Which aint alot to be honest!!!) *heavy right foot* so you would have to drive like a granny to get noticible gains. Plus i only had car for 2 weeks when fitted. However i have been taking it easy on this tank of petrol and got just over 300miles with the odd 'squirt' of power here and there. So i dunno. But if i was in the same situation again i would prolly get a strut brace/wheel spacers or something else instead and put it to the bottom of the list!

Well i'd have to say i'm quite impressed with it actually. The unit doesn't give you more power really, what it does is improve engine response, you put your foot down and it reacts in a much smoother manner. It also makes changing up through the gear alot smoother since the engine responds better. I did notice quite an improvment in 3rd though, where it felt as though i was given quite a boot in power.

I'm driving the 1.6 S Leon though, so i don't know how it affects the Cupra.

Oh and as for fuel economy, the improved responsivness has made me more agressive with my right foot, boot i'm learning to calm down now. I couldn't really tell you how much it improves economy any way as it isn't something i pay that much attention to.

Yours might have improved but as i said above it only works on cupra's when turbo is not runing which is below 2.5rpm or there abouts so there is not much time to even notice a difference
