Look out for 10-15% discount with GAP Security, see the Comments and Syggestions thread

Well Lane in Batley told me £200. £400+ seems high, even for London.

Give my mate Clint a ring (CJ Services - 07836 350333). He's a mobile car security fitter, does all over London and the South. See what he can sort you out with.

Clint knows car security inside out 'cos he used to work for the insurance industry, inspecting the fitting standards of all the manufacturers and retailers.

If it's a standard Seat option and is actually Cat1 approved, it should be listed on the Thatcham approvals list - find it at www.thatcham.org click on security and then Vehicle Security Listing...

BTW, an aftermarket system supplied and fitted by a third party will generally work out cheaper, but you may find that you'll have some conflicts between the OE immobiliser and any immobiliser which forms part of the new system.

Thanks for the advice on alarms. My local dealer in Cheshunt told me that what they charge £449 for a Thatcham Cat1 alarm is actually just an upgrade from the standard Cat2 immobaliser. This is obviously very expensive. Therefore i'll find somewhere that will fit a complete system for less.Anyone know the best Cat1 alarm for about £300.Thanks.

If Cheshunt are your local dealer, then you must be pretty local. In which case, you should definitely consider calling my mate Clint (see my previous post), as he is based in Enfield, so should be easy to arrange doing a quote and install.

Also in Cheshunt, there is INCA (01992 641354). They're up by the Tesco at the Brookfield Centre. They're listed on the VSIB/Thatcham website as the approved dealer in Cheshunt.
