View Full Version : Adding a CD Changer on it's own

I've had my Ibiza since December 01 and it's my first car. I'm now bored of having to hook my ickle mini disc player through the cassette deck as it gets on me tits all the time. I went to halfords first and asked if i could buy a CD Changer on it's own and use the tuner built in to my dash. They said no and said I would need a grundig, which they didn't have. They did however offer to replace the tuner but they'd need to upgrade the aerial and other stuff. I left confused and went to ask my local Audio Specialist, £250 later i had a panasonic 8 disc changer but i didn't work. The tuner didn't like it and ignored it completely. By now I'm feeling a tiny bit frustrated and on the verge of depression, just as Jamie Theakston opened his gob I knew I'd have to visit the Seat Dealership. I did and their best offer is a 6 CD Seat Changer for £350.

I thought it was a bit steep and I'm not sure what to do next, anyone got any suggestions, comments or can someone just set me straight?

Thanks

Andy

sony do a converter that allows the grundig head unit to use a sony cd changer. I've got one in my car and it cost me £250 for the 6disc changer & converter. I'll find out the exact name/model of the converter tomorrow when it's light so i can see what im pulling out of my car :)

it's called connects2 and the model number for the grundig headunit is asts001.

I bought mine from halfords so perhaps they can help you out.

Hi Andy,

I also got my Ibiza Cupra recently and had a Sony T69 6 disc changer. Went down to Halfords and they do the 'Connects 2' converter for £50. You should be able to pick up a T69 for about £165 - 170. (Got mine cheap as I work for Sony!:) )

So £220 should see you sorted and it all works perfectly through the controls on the center console. I can supply you with the 'Connects 2' model number if your stuck, but they should be able to look it up for you in Haldfords.

Woo Yay! Went to Halfords, bought the T69 and Connects 2 Adapter Box, raced home extremely excited (Sad I know). Set it up in my boot and yeah It does actually work perfectly, cept i have no idea where to put it, but it's free fitting so i guess Rac man can sort that out.

my cd changers strapped to the car using the elastic band thingy thats attached to the spare wheel lol. Couldn't be bothered booking my car in for it to be fitted properly...

I bought some heavy duty velcro and stuck it (the velcro bit with the little hooks:wink2: ) to the changer and then hey presto you can stick it to any of the carpet in the boot! :D

good idea. I did originally mount it in the metal just bellow the boot lock. But my tyre went flat 2weeks later and when i went to get the spare out i realised it was blocking it, i had no screw driver so i had no choice but to snap it off. So i broke the mounting brackets. The velcro idea sounds good though i think i'll use that instead so I dont have to reconnect the elastic band every time i through the car round a corner :)
