Hi Guys

Had been meaning to this for ages.
Here's a few piccies of my Leon.
May not be to everybody's taste, but i like her.
Some of the pics are of my 1.6, some of my 1.8T, but tbh they looked identical so it dont really matter :)

Please feel free to comment/critisize, all opinions welcome. Mods are in my Signature. To Do list keeps growing, but i will get there someday. I have a fair while till i have paid for her, so i have time yet :)

Kaanarig - His car is minted!! Dont quote me but im pretty sure the spoiler is just "stuck" on, with sum very good glue!!! (The speed he goes :p)

Thanks for all of the replies. 12 replies over night, hehe....

...Yeah, i liked the borrowed rims too, quite Octy RS style, will be going on my Mrs's yellow 20VT soon i think.

...I managed to find someone to "gaurd" all of the gear. Pretty impressive... camping gear, cooking gear, and food and clothes for 5 people for a weekend in the leon, and still quick as fook!!

...Fankoo Mr Sparky :D

...Cheers Kaanarig... yeah as Sparkt said really. The spoiler is "bonded" on with high adhesive stuff. Had it done professionally, no point it flying off and hurting someone. The exhaust was done at the bargain price of £280 ;) (+£50 for the decat pipe... parts and labour)

...OTT perhaps, but thats why we love to mod. Some people love it, some people dispise it... all fun and games (...and a sore wallet :( )

...Cheers Rick. Am keen to see your beastie again, not seen it for a while. Will be bending your ear about the FMIC no doubt as that was on my list to do soonish money permitting, and it looks great.

Thanks for all the replies guys :D:D:D

I like it, the only thing I'm not so keen on are the exhausts, I like both sets of wheels, but do prefer the borrowed set, only because they don't show the discs as much, maybe a Cupra R brake conversion..? ;)

All in all, nice car bud.

I absolutely love the rims and i mean the XTS, taillights looks good but in my opinion chromed would contrast alot better with the colour. Other wise the car looks good, i like it
P.S. i'm in the same situation with my car pics, ages have passed and i didn't post my pics. I need a good camera though:)

Eternal Rage
08-03-2006, 09:46
HAHAHA!!! Yes, urm, .... well ...yes....

The majority of the pictures are of the 1.6 (small teeny weenie brakes.)
The last two pics were of the 20VT. The bigger brakes looked fine behind the 19's (can just about see them on penultimate picture) though i know what you mean. ;)
I wouldnt waste my money going for a LCR brake conversion. I imagine i will be going straight to Tarox 6Pots from AwesomeGTi when i have the pennies :D

love the car wit evry aspect of it. Thts wht i want to do to mine.

A vowel please Carol... and another... and, yeah go on, another. ;)

Like the rims, like the dark look. Exhaust not too bad just a tad OTT for me. Spoiler though, does "spoil" the clean lines of the car, in my opinion. But each to their own. All quite tastefully done, which is good to see.

I'm defenetly with you on the brakes choice. I'm not denying the Cupra R Brembo eficienty but with aprox. the same money you can have the Tarox or something else better than Cupra R Brembo's

Eternal Rage
08-03-2006, 10:07
Cheers Adam.
That hits the nail on the head.
Perhaps not 100% your cup of tea, but tasteful is what i was going for.
The Stealthmobile will be treated to some darker wheels too at some point when i can afford it....

...why does everything need money... anyone wanna give me some black 18's ????

I had the new car with no spoiler for about 2 weeks and i did not like it. I think the rake of the rear window on the leons needs something to give it a bulkier pose, which i think this does nicely.

Kaanarig

No Probs Kaanarig, ask away,
I had the exhaust done in my local powerflow francise garage, which, since, has gone downhill. I got it at a promo rate, this kind of zoorst would normally be about £400... but it can be done at any Powerflow dealer....

...they will say it cant be done. Apparently you cant have a Duplex system on a Leon without the pipework being low, ie to fit into a Carzone Rear Skirt. My leon has 2 functional twin-exits which are flushed under the car and pipework worked around the wheel-well and past rear-suspension carefully. The guy that did it is a genious, well impressed. The reason it sticks out so much is so it doesnt look daft when i get a new bumper which isnt so rounded inwards....

I had powerflo on my bmw mini and it was good for wht i wanted cos i was only after sound then. but now its changed since i got my leon cupra im more after power then noise. Do you think tht exhaust has made and difference in your power?? And would you use them again?

It sounds OK ....not noisy as Low Compression Turbo'd cars rarley have loud exhausts, but i am told it sounds awesome. Like a jet fighter on takeoff...

...i would have powerflow again, yes. Simply for the customisation. I am a picky sod and i wanted exactly what i got. Unless i saw what i wanted on the shelf, i would not be happy.

...as for power, with my Exhaust and CAI fitted, i have made 3 BHP, which is hardly anything, but a gain none the less. If you are after power, perhaps try elsewhere. But to be honest, you dont spent £400-£600 on an exhaust and expect power increases worth noting. Spend the money on an FMIC or a remap... :)

We have two Debadged grilles, one vertical (on my car) and one horizontal (on the Mrs's...shown in the last piccie).

The vertical one is quite common, a few companies make them, about £25 (new) from EBay.
The horizontal one is from Mattig and they cost £50ish, though i got it for under £20 on EBay.

I think it's absolute Gash Mr Rage. Mine is much nicer.:p

The exhausts are too small, it's too quiet, it's not yellow, there's no carbon fibre under the bonnet, your badgeless grille slats go in the "common" direction, your lowering springs arn't yellow and you have poo germs and a boot well. Oh and you've got really rubbish CD's in the changer.

...Well I say 'my' new rims, i really mean 'his' new rims, but no doubt i will get first dibs on them when he gets bored of them in a few months ;)

Fitted my New Wheels in the last week, so thought i would get some piccies up.

Got a bargain set of Alloys off Ebay for £53.50. They are 18" MB Italia wheels with a Deep Dish. They had had some curb damage removed but hadnt been refurbed to perfect. They were sold as being buckled aswell, but i thought for £50 odd quid i would have a go and see if i could bear with it, plus the piccies showed no obvious egg shaped rimage.

On collection, all seemed above board, but when i got them home i saw that only 2 wheels had spigot rings... which would probably make it feel like they were buckled. £8 and 4 shiney new spigot rings later that problem is sorted. Now to make them look more.... "Stealthy"

Got quotes of £45 a corner to custom spray the spokes black and though stuff that, I'll have a go myself.

Stage 1: Sand down the spokes to give a surface the paint could stick to.
Stage 2: Mask off area i didnt want to spray
Stage 3: Prime
Stage 4: Basecoat. Chose Matt finish for a deen and not overly shiney finish
Stage 5: Lacquer. Lots of thin layers of lacquer for a nice deep shine.

Jobs a good un... now i just need rubber... and for £10 a tyre i got some part worn Michelin Pilot Sports in 225/40/18 profile, spot on!!!

Here are some piccies of the finished wheels. Hope you like. Still got the 20mm Spacers on the rear, WIDE is not the word for it. Reduced the Spacers on the front to 5mm so the wheels sat on the hub, just. Will prob be going for 15mm all-round.

Think Low, Think Wide, Think Grrrr, Think Stealth!!!

All comments and opinions welcomed and appreciated :D:D

...We did the event for Charity, in particular Canver Research! The Vinylls were supplied for free by a friend who owns a Vinyll Company and i fit them ALL myself over the course of a weekend!! It took a hell of a lot of effort, and certainly get a lot of looks. Mostly fo rthe right reasons, but obviously some for the wrong reasons!!

The old rims, in my opinion, looked alot better on your ride than this black rims. If you look at a car with black rims from a distance of 5M you would be thinking that the car is on stock rims. That is what I think....Other than that the car is looking good!!!

Me Neither.
It was cheap at the time. Was originally fitted to my 1.6, but when i got my Cupra i swapped everything over, including Suspension, Exhaust, Rear Bumper (So exhaust fit properly), and Tailgate (Free Spoiler effectively)...

Will probably get a different one at some point, but no money means no choice but to keep it for now... cant see anything through the rear view mirror but hey...

Cheers for the comments Rash. :)

With time i am realising it isnt about changing as many parts on a car that can be changed to make it nicer. The spoiler i have been doubting for a fair while now , but the exhausts i like... they will look a lot better when some bodywork is done, rear diffuser or bumper, will look a lot better. ;)

I like the stealthy look, it has evolved over the last few years from something that wasnt so subtle, but it is getting there. Time and funds simply dont permit many drastic changes atm, such is life. Ride height was a lot lower than it is now, but i have had to bow down to a sensible 80mm drop due to speed bumps and a work multistorey :banned: Damn It...

Remap is fantastic bar the obvious problems. It has really evolved since my first drive, so much fun. It is booked in at JBS on Thursday to hopefully fix the faults, so i can truly enjoy it. :D

Really do like what you have done with the Mk4, i will be aiming for 300 BHP stage 1 IHI within 12 months, seeing your dyno results has really made my mind up that this is the right choice, it ran really well yesterday, insta-spool!!!
