View Full Version : tt k04
just bought one for the beezer. came with manifold/ downpipe/ oil lines/ water lines and i/coolers. will let yu know how i get on. ps before you all say i should have went this way or that way, i got it for a good price!
wonder if all your standard bits would go on a 16v?????may be worth looking into different manifold i presume:confused:
Redman, i also have got a chance to get the same bits for a very special low price. Would be nice if you could do some pictures, too.
Are these kits available to the rest of us at these prices or is it a friend of a friend type thing?
Ben
not really just lucky , will try to get some pics up1 has anyone done this ? tell me for if not ill give a running report. examining the oil/water lines, some are different, however the holes are there in the correct places, just bunged up with allen screws. the turbo outlet falls in roughly the same place, its a wee bit bigger though, maybe 1/2 to an inch bigger. the turbo inlet is the same as ours only without the bolt on turbo inlet pipe.the hole isnt there to bolt on our inlet either, maybe just a case of drill and tap, will see. dont know yet if the downpipe will fall in near enough the correct place. incidentally the downpipe actually comes out sideways on the tt, not down, so theres a couple of twists and turns in the downpipe, which is HUGE before it splits into 2 for the twin cats.
Be sure to document everything ;)

I think that rriveroll has a k04
conversion and a front mounted intercooler

lemme guess from a guy in scotland????
He was advertising it £600 all of what un said. But from what i was told the intake pipe is part of the turbo where in the k03 it is seperate thus this causeing problems when fitting big ££££. May be wrong though, good luck
Yes, he has but i think its not the tt k04, but the one which bolts on directly to the stock manifold.
yes, rriveroll has aftermarket kkk04-01 (same size from outside than kkk03, different from inside), not TT.s bigass kkk04 turbo. Its huge, needs some custom job to make it work.

so does the k04-01 give as ,uch power increase as the k04???? Cause i seen it on US www for $800, any1 have ideas on power output after chip?? and lastly is the intake pipe part of the turbo as the k04 or seperate as the k03
cheers
Jabbasport quote about 240bhp from their K04 conversion, as did AMD when they done it and so do RSD (Leon only).

How much is it? does anyone know
agree that the smaller k04 can be bought from usa for $800, but thats keeping the most restrictive part of the system , the inlet manifold. having said that , on inspection the bigger k04, inlet dosnt really look that much different!

ideally a performance full 2.5" exhaust system including a performance manifold would benefit greatly!! Is there a performance manifold about????
i dont mean the downpipe, i mean the manifold prior to the turbo.

i know. As above is there a performance manifold available i.e. bigger ports etc
think theres a perf manifld to suit the k03 and smaller k04 in america but big bucks(low demand) once you go to that stage, sure its as straightforward to change the whole turbo setup to say a t3 or a really good perf package.

Actually, according to Jabbasport this wouldn't actually give any real benefit to a k04 conversion (I have the 2" milltek already), because its the turbo that is the main bottleneck in the airflow not the exhaust.... the little k04 can only let a certain amount of air through it and once you reach this limit fitting a bigger bore exhaust wont help.
Basically, I told Mike at Jabbasport that I wanted about 250bhp and wondered if I could fit their 240bhp K04 conversion, plus a bigger exhaust, plus an induction kit etc (Plus a remap to get everything to work together properly) to get the 250bhp, but he said that at 240bhp you are at the limit of the amount of air that will pass through the K04 and so induction kits and exhaust wont actually help!

damn it
but your not touching the head or cam so 250 hp would be possible

ang on though if you can get 240hp from just turbo and chip and it doesnt matter what extras you add to give more bhp then y does a filter, exhaust, new intake pipe give you bhp when its at at 200. Same principle for increases. i could understand if its part of the conversion but if its not?????
well, I have now 252bhp at the flywheel, mods:
kkk04 - ported manifold - fm intercooler - 2.5" turboback exhaust
4bar fuel pressure regulator - k&n airfilter - mtm chip
btw, new kit from atp, looks really interesting
http://www.vwturbo.com/gen2/gen.asp
MSRP: $1950.00 Kit Price
but ofcourse you need to upgrade some other parts too, like
flywheel, clutch, pressure plate --
bigger turboback exhaust..

is yer turbo the ko4-01??? and where did ya get your 3" down pipe etc and oil cooler and intercooler from??
just some info for those of you contemplating this. all info is for k04 020 only.right all the piping/hosing on the tt is 21/2 inch compared to the beezers sligtly under 2 inch. so to do th job right it means a complete change of piping too. the tt piping goes around the bulkhead at the drivers side and along the inner guard. the inter cooler will fit in the wheel arch but space is very limited to get piping in AND out of the intercooler. my thoughts on the thing are to replace the standard beezer i/c with the tt one of the same shape/size(but bigger inlet/outlet) and then replace the piping from turbo down to the i/c with larger diameter and place a charge cooler somewhere in the line instead of the second i/c.the inlet manifold is the same inlet size as the tt one anyway.two questions for the educated out there, fistly do i need an i/c if i take the shortest possible route to inlet manifold and put the biggest charge cooler i can find?second unrelated one... whats the standard boost on a 18t?

i think standard boost is around 7-9psi
