Not a bad result for the 1st time out, I've highlighted the other class 'B' cars that bill's up against

Hopefully the race will go well!

Ruddmeister
25-03-2006, 14:04
Neither of the other Seat's racing then?

that lap seems a little slow for Bill he used to be up in the 1m19's perhaps 1min 18's (different tyres etc but old spec car)

Good for first time out but that Rover 220 turbo on Bills group looks bl00dy quick

the 206's have about 285bhp (shit the bed that's better than the Super Touring car engines in teh 406)

and I guess they have a significant weight advantage over the Ibiza

Cut short by the looks of it too, either weather got too dodgy, or they cut it short as they were up against it on the timetable.

Only completed 10 laps, according to the race schedule, it was due to be a 12 lap race, unless they were under safety car at some point, im sure Bill will tell us though.

Looking at Bills lap time at 1.36 'best' I think it might have been soggy!

Probably an incident to close it after it'd been running for so long.

Top result Bill! Well done!

8 cars safely despatched under racing conditions....

Qualifying seemed a little fraught with 30 odd cars all out together & maybe only 2 or 3 decent clear laps...

More to come im sure with further time & setup tweaks!!!:)

but of the 6 top finishers, 5 were FWD. what results are you looking at where Rovers & pugs are 4wd?

Race was 10 Laps due to running behind time - no safety car.

Im sure Bill will be along to explain :) But true pace was never shown due to some problems.

Race was indeed very soggy! Fighting through to 6th was great to watch after some wheelspin off the line ;)

Next round should be excellent & hope for better weather!

As for the 4wd, the Evo Spun off on the 1st corner, Keith Murray Retired, & there were only 2 other Imprezas... Seemed to be an advantage in the wet although reliabilty & mistakes meant they didnt finish where they perhaps may have.

Well Done Bill :D

One of the Imprezas retired on installation lap (mate of mine) and the other finished 2nd.

The winner Gary Prebble is awesomely quick and was on pole ahead of Murray in the 4WD Audi. Surprisingly not as it was tipping down it was Murray followed by Turvey in the Impreza with Prebble 3rd which set early pace. Prebble got by Turvey but never looked like catching Murray who seemed to have it under control until something broke.

Bills progress through the field was superb to watch.

The race was cut to 10 laps from the outset. no safety cars or anything. I think the event was running behind on the whole due to weather conditions, incidents on track etc. one extra sighting formation lap tho due to conditions being wet for race and dry for quali.

Reason for such crap times in quali is some 10psi of missing boost somewhere in our rush to get the car to race one at all.

Considering how it was driving as a whole in quali and in the race, I am very happy with the end result and a straight car. Much more to come when we now have a few weeks to take breath and actually finish some things on it. The g'ox breakage cost us all time. Not had a single night all week where I had'nt finished before midnight, and last week and the week before.... simply manic. Collected the car (its road legal and I drive it to the circuit!) from JBS friday night after journey from hell on the shite motorways.. left Glos 3:15pm got to Chesterfield 19:30.... should be 2 hours. [:@] Got home that night 02:20am saturday morning, up again 06:15am for getting car loaded up with stuff/tools etc.

Totally knackered.
slept well saturday night.
need more sleep now.. blummin clock change

looking forward to next one. with full power and some "special" things.

Survived Race #1. Got me 1st siggy.
jobs a goodun.

Well done Bill. So next time you should have an extra 10psi!? That'll be useful (Providing its reliable).

Any idea what spec the David URQUHART 205 was?

What happened to Tims Ibiza?

Well done Bill .
Pity about the 10psi , Boost leak or problems with CC ?????

Thanks

probs with interaction of boost controller and new ecu software.... they did'nt like each other so limp mode and actuator pressure was all it would do. A consequence of last minute time pressures and getting to the track at all. I did'nt get to JBs until 7.30pm and got home 02.20am sat morning...

A few others did'nt manage to get their cars to the 1st race at all, so I count myself lucky (albeit extremely tired) to make race #1, let alone finish in top 6, given my abysmal quali position and crappy start. Never been good at standing starts... and boy does it show LOL.

removed controller and boost is whats programmed.
got to suss how to make em work together now as I like the in-car adjustment.

it might be ok with haldex controller and fixed front-rear balance?

ryan_s3
28-03-2006, 16:10
as per the mtm demo car, 60:40 split with controller, considering one of these myself.Mike thinks it's no good and will wear the haldex clutch significantly. There £1k to buy.

ibizacupra
28-03-2006, 18:32
I guess it depend on how much power is being proportioned and to what use the cars being subjected to. 15min race prolly not a desperate amount of wear unlike a road car

not a controller ,just a uprated haldex ecu.

Ruddmeister

not a controller ,just a uprated haldex ecu.
really it says

At the bottom of that page EIP do a

4 Motion Race Controller
EIP offers a 4 Motion Race Rear Drive Controller that enables a 20/80 and 50/50 power ratio setting. The biasing from rear to front is automatic. When torque exceeds the "recommended safe limits", the OEM built-in safety valves are incorporated to enable the transfer of power. The race controller works faster than the HPP by already being set to a full 50/50 split, it does not rely on the inputs of the TPS or MAF to change the power ratio. The race controller is proactively 50/50.
