My indicator switch needs replacing on my Arosa 1.4 TDi as it clicks sometimes but the indicator lights doesn't flash. I was told that to replace the indicator switch the steering wheel has to be smashed off as there is a captive nut holding the steering wheel on and I would need a replcement. This seems rather expesive just to replace an indicator switch! Has anyone removed their steering wheel before, and does the steering wheel have to come off to reset the airbag if it inflates? Cheers.

 a lot of the new vag group air bags are cliped on.you have to poke a small screw driver through the back and release 2 clips that hold the air bag on then you can see the large nut that holds the steering wheel on.as long as you dont turn the ignition on when the air bags not connected it will not triger the warning light or you can just diconnect the battery while your working hope this is of help
